How many of you use file sharing sites and torrents for traffic generation

I came accross a post on another forum where somebody was selling a site and they happen to put the amount of traffic they were geting it was around 6k a day and the site was only a few months old

The guy also happen to post that if he submits to certian file sharing and torrent sites he can increase his traffic by 2x that amount per day

I had a look at one of the sites he mentioned and there is a way to submit links to embeded movies, pics free sites ect

How many of you have used this or tried this. I know the traffic will most prob be pretty shit but I am thinking of site ranking which will push the site up in the search engines which in turn will also give you better search engine traffic.. discuss

you could try to filtrate it to some dating site, but the number of freejoins would be pretty low and the convertions... :S

trevesty 03-16-2010 04:33 PM

depends on where you do it.. but i've seen decent results from it. only takes 5 min to setup the torrent, presentation, and upload it..

well, I've never specifically tracked the traffic from it using a special NATS campaign or anything, but I have just used that as a means for traffic generation for a week and still gotten conversions.. although my ratio dropped from about 1:200 to about 1:900

it was for solo girl/babe type stuff..

now I'm curious.. may track it for real :2 cents:

trevesty 03-16-2010 04:40 PM

you will increase traffic quite a bit though.. if anything, throw up some etology ads or something.. they're usually click happy

If people think they can more of what they are looking at from your site, they will visit. The traffic will respond, but like any half blind traffic, direct marketing doesn't work well.

I was never big into torrents, but I was into piracy forums. If anything relates it will be the mass volume aspect and filtering. And now with social networks, you can easily spam forums, torrents, etc...

Hot link a picture/torrent/video, add a more link to the social network, build your friends, and spam them through the social network rather than directly marketing them.

Yeah I am actually gonna submit some links to embeded movies and to some pics just to see what the outcome will be.

You know what I find kinda funny All the time we have been bitching about torrents and file sharing sites ect and all the time they have been getting the traffic instead of complaining about it I wish I had actually used it now. It wasent until I saw that post it made me think what an idiot iv been shit in the hay days of the big torrents we could have milked their traffic .

Iron Fist 03-16-2010 09:25 PM

are you talking about running the tracker or just uploading torrents? Hard to compare the two.... two different beasts when it comes to traffic.

LeRoy 03-16-2010 09:35 PM

I hit up a guy that is stealing our content and hot filing it.

I asked him. How much do you make stealing my content and using it at hot file? He says around a 1000. Usually 10,000 downloads a day.

Is there anyway to choke someone thru ICQ???

Or just do it yourself and forget paying anyone!

NetHorse 03-17-2010 12:46 AM

I've done it, the traffic for the most part is garbage. HOWEVER, there are exceptions to the rule and it depends on one major factor. :winkwink:

PAYPAL me $10,000 and I will let you in on the secretz moneys systems that I Vladimer Broski Stalin has discovered. :1orglaugh

LMAO, no but there is a way to get a special email address for someone that works for hotfile and have your files removed on the fly.

Oh did I mention, when someone sees a screencap for your video, gets a boner only to find out the file was deleted from HF they then end up on your site? :winkwink:

Dappz 03-17-2010 03:09 AM

well im first gonna give the file sharing sites a go before I try torrents and then it will be just uploading with watermarks. Im not sure how well torrents will work cause I have never used them before but from looking at some of the file sharing sites you can at least submit urls. If you cant beat these fuckers then at least I can try and use their traffic.

I have been promoting my sites on youtube and forums with stolen pics. Judging by the numer of visits they have tons of traffic. However this didn't increase traffic on my paysites AT ALL!

Piracy people are looking to consume free porn, you need to give them more free porn to consume once you have them off the piracy source. This also allows for filtering, if you post a picture of Jenny - of course they want more Jenny (content wise, not credit card wise). However if it's a general hardcore picture you're promoting, your landing page can offer various hardcore niches of free content to start the filtering with. You can also promote social profiles, which seem less spammish but give you a huge advantage to contacting them later.

Torrents is about seeding... Most people on torrents, aren't on the torrent to "find" porn.

They're looking for music, movies, and things with proper titles.

The keyword being, titles. Something our Industry doesn't do very well other than a few major brands and porn stars and yes, some sites too - but very few.

Torrent porn isn't the best or easiest way to get porn for the surfer... so unless you have something to brand or a way to automate the process to cover as much ground as possible, I wouldn't worry about it.

i just use them for heaps of free shit... :2 cents:

Chosen 06-10-2010 08:35 AM

I don't.

Barefootsies 06-10-2010 10:26 AM

I had read about others doing this as well. Not only using the torrents and what not, but actually making sites that market as FREE whatever the site is. Then you SEO is up the ass, and command the top spots to make the most off of the illegal, and legal porn searchers.

Not a bad idea, if you have all the time in the word and some SEO skill.
