I can think of other shit to buy for $600 - $700 right now. I mean fuck, already have a desktop, mac mini, laptop, netbook, iphone, and kindle. Last thing I need is another computer.

There are going to be 50+ other tables going on sale in the next 6 months. I'd rather wait and see how all that pans out.

In a year they will cost about $300, the later models will have fixes in place for whatever fuckups come on release, and by then the competition will have come around with a wide variety of options.Once I've seen where it's going I'll make a decision...

Just this week I bought my first iPod, LOL, so no. I did not buy a iPad.

I don't know what I would use it for...

The entry level iPad is only $10 more than the Kindle DX (I have a DX). The DX has 3GB of memory. The iPad has 16. The Kindle is in shades of black. The iPad is in color. The Kindle reads books. The iPad reads books, and does 15 billion other things.

Not surprising, I'm selling my Kindle DX and replacing it with an iPad.

When I first heard about the iPad the first thing that popped into my mind was "Kindle on crack."

I will be, gonna pick it up on the next version probably.

At first I thought they were pointless, but they might have a use in the home automation market. DIYer's could use them as wall mounted touchscreens or remote controls, etc. Much cheaper than going with something like a Crestron system from a professional installer.

Will have to wait and see what apps come out for them.

Otherwise I don't see the purpose of them.

That's mostly the reason I want to get one. Media center purposes. Just gotta get a nice wall mount and everyone knows how to use iTunes. I just hope they don't try to lock it down too much.

I have all of that too and i am getting an ipad. This thread just reminded me that they are out there. :)

As much as ppl want to hate on apple and the ipad it will be a success. Me, I'm waiting an extra month to get the 64GB 3G version.

Aspect ratio isn't wide screen, no HD video output, no GPS and no USB ports - instead you have to fork out more cash for an adapter. I fail to see how this is a step forward.
