it has to do with 'keeping up with the jones'. my jeans are worth 2 hundred dollars, i'm 6 3, 200 lbs, and pretty good lookin (extremely modest too lol). seriously. you want my money you better fucking work for it. end of story. i'll dress how i want (not like some bum, but what fits my lifestyle), and if some saleman ass doesn't like it, well, they won't get that sale. there are many salesmen, not that many buyers (at least right now).

Its just a fact of life that first impressions are based on looks but I don't see why people should have to change who they are for others. They just have to learn to deal with the reactions. I couldn't give a fuck about "dressing up". I hate buying clothes. I don't like malls so I typically wear the shit out of something until I absolutely have to buy more. If thats low class, so be it. I'm not going through life trying to impress people I don't know or give a fuck about.

i used to be self righteous about dressing up and buying clothes, then realized you're more likely to attract money/better service/etc if you look decent. the fact of the matter is you ARE judged by how you look whether you like it or not. so deal with it. nobody gives a shit about your millions in the bank, or your "good clothes" at home, or your other exotic car in your garage. if you show up anywhere looking less than presentable, expect to be treated as such. yes you can call everyone douches etc for judging you, but honestly you're a bit out of touch with reality if you think having money entitles you to be a slob and demand respect. not everyone knows you (or cares for that matter) of your merits or achievements in life, and you're usually sized up in less than 2 seconds anyway. feel free to dissect this response and quote me out of context in typical gfy fashion, i gotta go workout before closing

I think the point of that thread you are referring to isn't that nobody rushed to help him, it's that he was ignored and insulted for dressing how he wants. Personally, I enjoyed reading that thread amd the other similar stories.

Does anyone else dress nice when they go to the bank? I don't know why I do, but if I have the opportunity to I usually wear long sleeves / cover my tattoos and do my best to look professional. It's really pointless, I mean, they get a pretty good idea what my financial situation is as soon as they open my account. I don't know why I care what they think of me. I mean, these people work at the bank so fairly safe to say financially and professionally I have the higher ground, I'm their client, what could I possibly have to prove to them, but for some reason I dress up, maybe on some level I feel like I need approval or acknolwedgement... it's pretty retarded.

Same with fancy restaurants. If I can, I dress up. I don't really dress up because I care what the wait staff or other patrons think of me, I like to dress nice and go to a nice restaurant just for the overall experience, but sometimes when I'm out chilling and we decide to go somewhere upscale and I can't go home and change I find myself caring what other people think of me. It's ass backwards, I'm the customer, obviously I can afford to eat there... I dunno, something I gotta get over I guess. Any of you guys ever feel that way?
