Bunch of slack-jawed morons at the helm of these programs who have no idea what internet marketing is.

I always felt we were spoiled in adult with our affiliate support and tools. Now I know for sure.

Yep, dead serious. Morphing RSS feeds? Which mainstream program offers it? What about pre-made FLV's? Any kind of equivalent to this? Free hosting? Etc.

Adult programs hold affiliate hands WAY too much - how can you not think you get all the tools you need when it comes to the average adult program?


Mainstream programs in the first place have a screening process to get the "privilege" of YOU promoting THEM. This has always irritated the shit out of me to begin with. Then these affiliate support fucks have no idea what they're talking about.

In this instance I was asking for access to a data feed from Amazon that is ALREADY AVAILABLE and their canned response was to read a book or ask a friend for help with setting up something entirely unrelated. No phone number, no IM sofwtare in place - you can't even email the affiliate support directly or reply to the email you get.

I replied back clarifying, and used the word "bullshit" and my account was closed.

Now THAT deserves a ":1orglaugh" but it more felt like a: :disgust

Yes that is one of reason why i avoid mainstream programs,for example what i find very stupid you have program like CJ where you can sell various programs for commision,but you cant signup once and be approved,every fucking program which you want to promote you need to be approved and it have special rules as well.Plus in most cases programs offer only check as payout which is totally unacceptable.I will either stick always with adult or maybe create my own program in mainstream.

I was working on customizing my own RSS feed using their bulk data feed, which you have to request access to. There is nothing in my original post here nor my email to them that in any way suggests them doing any work for me other than giving my happy ass access so I CAN get some work done.

I really wish you fucks would knock this nonsense off, it's lame and pointless and completely diverts subject matter. I made this thread to vent some frustration - Idgaf if you agree with me or not, but if you're going to open your mouth then at least have something intelligent to say and read before you write.

I for one appreciate that mainstream programs have set the bar a little higher for entry. Why the fuck would they want just any old punk with an internet connection to be able to hop on and start blasting their shit out?

This is where adult went really wrong... Setting the bar for affiliate entry ultra low and blasting the net with "Make $$$ now!" links plastered all over everything.

I have a domain with the word "god" in it, and was denied by a bunch of typical stores (like walmart) because they didnt want to be affiliated with a RELIGIOUS website.

Mind you, the only thing on the website at the time was a blank index page.

Several of them banned my account because the domain has the word god in it, lol. I guess it's a real hotbutton word.

Mainstream can select anyone they want to work with. They mitigate risk. In adult most programs will even take viet carders if it gets them transactions. :1orglaugh

I find the majority of my affiliate support on mainstream networks well up and above that of any affiliate support I ever received in adult. Hell get this, some networks even have AMs that know what they're talking about. All I ever seen from 95% of adult affiliate managers was the equivelent of a god damn tour guide.

All this thread amounts to is whining that a mainstream affiliate program has raised the bar for entry a little above the adult world's "anyone and everyone" level of entry.

Most CPA programs rely on nothing more than cookies and pixel firing for tracking. I can't imagine how many sales are being lost every day due to poor tracking.

I sure did. Never said I didn't. I complained about CJ, not the entire fucking mainstream marketing industry. They stiffed me for almost $3k, of course I was gonna bitch about it. (Note: I did wind up eventually collecting a good portion of that money.) It's not liek I got denied from a CJ program and went fucking shitworks over it.

If you have the time to manage it, you're much further off creating your own gateway and promoting your own incentivized CPA offers through it. They just offer a nice managed set it and forget it solution.

I think AAN and adult gateway programs have the potential to change the adult affiliate landscape massively. Maybe even in a good way if they are operated properly. The scary part is that CPALead appears to be a very strongarm sort of program that doesn't appear to care one way or the other about piracy. It's a silent giant waiting to rise. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out and if it survives..

I think the high payouts per survey/offer and ease of use is whats attracting webmasters to it and whether they can continue to pay out that much we will see in the future.
