2009 R8 vs 2004 Gallardo
Buddies and I have been going back and forth for months now in car preference...
If you guys had some 100k to spend on a car, which would it be? Assuming that both cars have less than 10,000 in mileage Here are pics to help you decide http://images5.ecarlist.com/photos/1...294/800/25.jpg http://www.452-engines.com/uploaded_...ous-723561.jpg |
Easy choice, The G.
|
I'd probably say go the R8 because they are much more rare in Canada
|
The Audi by a mile. Who wants to buy that flashy tat? This isn't the 80's anymore.
|
they're actually both volkswagens. do the homework on VAG.
|
the Audi - because it's a much better daily driver. and i don't buy nice cars to drive them only on 4 weekends a year
|
Well this is all about flash so you have to go Lambo. Seriously, an Audi is the second option?
Wasn't it you with the BMW M3 convertible? |
where ya been dude.. you disappeared.. hows biz
|
04 g have tons of issues, go with the R8
also a 04g shouldnt be more then 80k if it has 15k or so miles you can easily find 06 gallardo with egear for 105k heck there is a SE for sale on ebay for 120 and u can get that for 115 |
Go with the R8, you wont look like as much of a douchebag.
|
Get a Porsche Panamera S for ~$100K.
Put wheels on it, lower it, and you got something way cooler than those 2. |
Lambo for sure

Why spend $100,000 or more? You can rent something for one day. See details below:
I like the Lamborghini. I've found out that it is possible to rent it for $1,000 for one day if you want to pretend to be a millionaire for one day. More info is here: http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/rentals.php Rent it for: 1 hour: $199.00 4 hours: $495.00 8 hours: $795.00 |
Rent a car for one day and you might be able to have sex for free with a woman who only cares about how cool your car is on that day. Good luck.
|
First off, they are both made by the same company and are the same cars. If you are going to spend that kind of money go with the lambo as it is an exotic. The audi, well, it is an audi.

R8 is more popular in EUROPE
|
They are not the same car.
Yes, they run on the same platform, but they are not the same, they have distinct differences. Its not a Volkswagen, just because VAG owns Volkswagen, Audi and Lamborghini does not make them a Volkswagen. The engines are made at Lamborghini, and not at Audi or VW. (even if the logo on the engine for the R8 says Audi, its still a Lamborghini engine, as is the one in the S8 V10 btw...) The R8 in the picture looks like a V8, make sure its a V10 before you buy one. Even the R8 V10 is less powerful than the Gallardo, reason being very simple: If VAG made the Audi R8 V10 perform as well or outperform the Gallardo, people would stop buying the Gallardo. So the Gallardo will likely always outperform the R8 by a tiny little bit. Just because the R8 has an Audi Logo does not make it less nice than the Gallardo in my opinion though. They are both very fun to drive, the Audi will be a little easier to handle since it simply is made that way. If you can drive shift, and have a clue how to handle such a car, I would get the Gallardo as long as you like the general look. Otherwise, get the Audi R8 V10. If you just want a nice fast car, I would get an Audi S8 V10 though... |
Then again, you can not buy an S8 in the US :/
|
Gallardo hands down, I find the R8 boring to look at, if i'm gonna spend 6 figures I want it to be outrageous to look at

I've made this choice about 6 months ago. 2004 Gallardo (egear) vs 2007 R8 (manual).
Exactly the same colors as the ones on your photos. Same price, same milage. If you see both cars next to eachother, the Gallardo looks a bit dated compared to the R8 (interior and exterior). Don't get me wrong, it looks stunning but it's already a 6 year old car now and you can see this. I decided to buy the R8 cause it's a much easier car to drive daily + already have an other italian sportscar. The R8 is a GREAT car. I know everyone seems to think you NEED to have the V10 but there's nothing wrong with the V8. And I would think twice before you decide to buy a 2004 egear cause it can cost you a lot of money + it's not as advanced yet (2006 is better). |
Lambo. It pulls more chicks.

Having had both a 2004 Gallardo, and my current 2008 R8, I would say without a doubt go for the Audi.
Its easier to live with, more comfortable to drive, handles better, and is a much newer design than the Gallardo, which especially on the inside is looking very dated now. The G will end up costing you a fortune in maintenance, whilst the Audi wont. Here is a couple of pics to help you decide :) http://xnl96.dial.pipex.com/gallardo.jpg http://xnl96.dial.pipex.com/r82.jpg |
Lambo looks better for me, but I'd probably still go for the Audi, it looks good and drives real good.
|
I own the R8, awesome car!
I think in my town if you drove a lambo or a ferrari you'd get spat at... but the common man appreciates the R8... It's like being an instant celebrity wherever you go, people LOVE it. |
09 is better than 04, it's a 5-6 year old car. I'd go for the Audi

The R8 strikes me as an entry level super car but could almost be a daily driver as well. It would be hard to find a better all around car for the price. Here's three I've seen lately. The white and blue ones are V10s. http://www.julie-clarke.com/public_h...ages/R8V10.jpg |
I don't know too much but wouldn't the R8 be cheaper on maintenance? Maybe not much, but probably somewhat.
I'd take the R8 personally. I've been in one and they're truly awesome vehicles. I don't see many of them or as much as I see Lamborghini's either. |
Why bother wasting that sort of money on a car.
|
I'd def go for the Audi R8.
|
Audi for the obvious reasons everyone talk about.
|
I'd go with Gallardo.
|
IMO if you're going to spend the money you want the attention that comes with it :winkwink: The R8 doesn't scream exotic to the average person, but the G will.
|
Lambo... fuck you haters

Wheres the "other" option? Get a Nissan GT-R. Not only will it smoke both of them by a full second in the quarter, you will have about $20k left over to play with :thumbsup
|
bump! need more opinions :)
|
take the Gallardo, too many guys drive R8 :) .

Some people may have enough money to not care about the additional costs involved in owning an exotic car. Some people may have just enough to pay the sticker price but not enough left over to cover maintenance, insurance and storage. Some people like me are just dreamers. To not consider the added costs of owning something like an exotic car, boat or house is just plain financially stupid no matter how rich you are. |

Invest your money and get a private jet in a couple of years insted.
|
maintenance costs on exotics are insane. i don't own one, but i've looked into it extensively and, it's nuts. my humble 911 C4S nearly gives me a heart attack every year from the tire replacement, oil change and balancing alone.

As an example, when i needed to replace a brake disc on the Lambo the quote was over £2000 ($3,200) for a set of front discs. and Lambos are not the most reliable of cars tbh, so you do have to think about those costs especially if you are going to use it a lot. Ok, if you have $250,000 or more to spend on a car it probably means you have unlimited funds so its not an issue, but at 100k it is a factor to consider. |
Lambo all the fricken way. :2 cents:
|
Gallardo. The Audi R8 4.2 V8 isn't even that fast, an M5 is already faster.
