Home Theater Experts: Anyone Ever Blow An HDMI Input On Their Receiver?

I have a Pioneer Elite receiver and it has (i think) 4-5 hdmi inputs. The unit is probably about 3 years old now and it seems like one of my hdmi inputs is shot? Will transmit audio but no video? Has this ever happened to anyone else as this has never happened to me?

I absolutely dread having to unhook everything and taking it into service LOL! The pain in the ass is that i have to unplug another hdmi input to watch something else now (ie. unplug the xbox 360 hdmi input to play the ps3 and vice versa).

Would i be better to buy an hdmi hub and use that or should i just bite the bullet and fix the receiver?

Thanks guys!

see if there is any dried semen in the input , this could cause a bad connection.

if there is semen , use a cotton swab lightly moistened too clean the semen

I probably have a very similar receiver to you: Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi

I've noticed that the HDMI switching is a bit weird sometimes. Like going from cable to blu ray, sometimes video will not come up. Sometimes going back and forth will fix it, sometimes you have to power off the receiver to get video to the input. I think on these receivers they had just moved to a newer version of the HDMI standard and there are issues.

Totally understand what you mean by a pain to unhook... have a PS3, Pioneer BluRay player, Cable box, and power amp all hooked up to this receiver... taking it out and replacing it would be a bitch. At least I got rid of the Wii and 360 ;-)
