CBS 13 in Sacramento is reporting that anti-gay state senator Roy Ashburn was arrested for allegedly driving drunk after leaving Faces, a gay bar and nightclub.

Ashburn, the married father of four, has run on a family values platform and has a long history of voting against gay issues. In fact, according to Project Vote Smart he has voted against every gay rights measure the senate has voted upon.

His district represents parts of Kern, Tulare and San Bernardino counties.

Ashburn was reportedly driving with a male passenger who was not identified.

The lawmaker was booked into Sacramento County Jail. He was released on $1,400 bond.

He issued an apology for his actions Wednesday. In the apology he asked for forgiveness from his family, constituents, friends and "my colleagues in the Senate."

No surprise there.

Those who yell the most and love to act tough are also the most insecure.
