Use a captcha script.

Czarina, its a simple Captcha verification thinggy. Do a search on Google and you will find dozens of tutorials on how to do that. Check this out: http://www.cardinalvices.com/contacts.php
No spam here. |
rename your submit form

This one is fantastic and the use of it to transcribe books in the background is pretty cool too |
Or just remove the submit form. :)

captcha works for us...
|
A better way than CAPTCHA (because CAPTCHA is a pain in the ass for non fraudulent users) is to use some sort of rate limiting...
Store a session variable that's a hash of submit times... Once the count of the hash is greater than X amount, stop processing the form and give them a warning (or don't and let them spam away but don't process them)... Rather than punishing the real users with a CAPTCHA :P |

Renaming the form, will temporarily stop the spam. But it's only a matter of time before you start getting spam through the new form too, thus forcing you to rename it again. Recaptcha will defeat most automated form submitters, but does add a barrier to legitimate users.
You could get the best of both worlds, by getting a script that renames your form for you throughout the day. It's a bit cheesy, but it should do the trick. |
thanks so much guys (and girls)
Getting it implemented right now. I dont think I can take another viagra or tenebril email today! |
