Trying to name my new puppy
We got a new puppy yesterday. She is a 4 month old Australian Sheperd mix. (They think she has German Shepard in her too.) She is already 30 pounds, so the vet thinks she will be 60+ full grown. Her paws are already as big as our 80 pound lab/chow mix! She is pretty smart.
I can't decide on a name for her! I figured there would be plenty of people her who wouldn't mind sharing their opinion! Here is my current short list: Loki Milla Pearl / Pearla (because Bruce programs in pearl) Dagny Calista Dougie Here are some pics: (She has taken to sleeping by my desk while I work) http://www.4RealSwingers.com/graphics/blog/puppy1.jpg http://www.4RealSwingers.com/graphics/blog/puppy2.jpg http://www.4RealSwingers.com/graphics/blog/puppy3.jpg Playing ball outside with our fattie Lab http://www.4RealSwingers.com/graphics/blog/puppy4.jpg I'm open to suggestions.. just not sure what fits yet.... |
I don't know if you want a suggestion from a guy who named his cat Retard, personally I think all cats should have that name though.
I would suggest Bruce but you already have a bitch with that name, so I say Rylee! |
Pearl / Pearla (because Bruce programs in pearl)....
Honey, that was like 10 years ago and it was PERL LOL let's call her CSharp, or PHP, or Ajax, or even MySQL LOL |
or PiHPy, not PaHPy

Europeans Billing Europe!
Anna, you always want a hard explosive initial consonant for a dog's name so you instantly get their attention when you want it - so of your choices Pearl, Dagna, Calista and Dougie would work best - Calista will probably end up Callie or Cal ;-) and the hard 'K' is your best choice with Pearl second. 'D' is lingua-alveolar and doesn't have the same punch.
This is a smart dog, but also independent minded as a herder with a job to do, so you're going to want her to stop and look when you call her...try the names and see when she perks her ears... They look beautiful out there :thumbsup |
Milla is good name :)

Aww... She's adorable!!! For some reason, every time I look at the center pic, the names Maggie or Sasha come to mind...
|
Hey sexy... which center pic? (There are 4.) :upsidedow :upsidedow
Sasha isn't bad tho... |

Personally, I like Kaos as a name for a dog or even Disco. My German Shepherd is named Windows. Unusual names are cool and great conversation starters. I vote for Disco. |
she looks like Fiona to me
|
WhatHaveYouDoneToMyFavouriteShoes might suit the breed as a shepherd dog needs a lot of exercise / mental stimultion to stop it getting bored and destroying things (mine ate the carpet on the stairs)
2 syllable names shout well when you want a dogs attention but I can't think of anything suitable. |

I don't know why this is driving me nuts, but nothing seems to stick for me yet. |

In case anyone was wondering.. we settled on Loki. :)
Vanilla - I was for adding Sasha to the list, but Bruce's had an ex named Sasha so that was that. B2BwithJoeD - you had an intelligent point. She started answering to Loki though yesterday so that sealed it. Thanks everyone! |
Cute puppy :)
