Just saw the other thread about this. Guess I am not the only (ex) affiliate getting this crap.

Iron Fist 03-03-2010 10:44 PM

I'm glad this has something to do with StarLight Bucks.... grrrr.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 03-03-2010 10:51 PM

Yeah but this is the first one I have ever gotten in adult. This kind of douchebaggery is common in the mainstream internet marketing world but it won't fly here. Those who do it won't have any affiliates left to spam.

Fat Panda 03-03-2010 11:08 PM

fucking joke, email shoemoney about their spamming

fatfoo 03-04-2010 12:22 AM

Spam... That sucks...

I did but this kind of shit is really common in mainstream affiliate marketing circles. I doubt he will think it's a bad thing.

idiots like ya make it difficult for legit marketers..

spamming is unsolicited mail, these guys have his email because he joined their affiliate program.. also im sure in the terms it says they can email you...

It might be distasteful mailing, but not spam.. annoys me when a guy opts in and i have his firstname, last name, zip code, email, IP, date of double optin confirm, yet he will bitch about it being spam.. maybe next time read the terms..

st0ned 03-04-2010 02:23 PM

I got the same email. :disgust

Idiots like you make the terms "marketing" and "spamming" interchangeable. Thanks loads for that.

It is true that things are pretty thinly veiled what you're opting in to. If I give a sponsor my email address I give them it for network related shit. I don't expect to get my email bombarded with garbage affiliate links for guru trash.

I guess that's the name of the game though. I dumped one of my throwaway emails for some service and wound up on Howie Schwartz's list, fuck me that guy blasts out like 8 emails a day...

no dumbo go and google spam.. spam is unsolicited, bulk, email..

if i have a website that sells shoes, and i tell you in the terms that by putting your email, we will email you some offers and ads, then its not fucking spam, you agreed to the damn thing..

if someone has your optin info, name, IP, and you click that I agree terms and conditions box, then he is not fuckin spamming ya...

spamming is illegal, mailing someone who agreed to receive mail from me is 100% legal..

anyway, like i said, still pisses me off when someone joins a site and agrees to receive emails, offers, and when they get the first one they run off to fbi/ftc/spamhaus to complain about spam... dumb fucks..

when i think spam, i think russian guys using botnets and mailing replica/viagra, not a company YOU are affiliated with mailing you an offer from shoemoney..

like i said, its not very tasteful of them, but if they have in their terms and conditions that they can email you, then this is not SPAM, at all

lack of a better word, okay it was kinda dumb of them :1orglaugh, but if their terms say they can email ya, then this is not spam.. thats all im trying to get across here..

people put their emails for free porn mag type of sites, then run to the govt when they get an email promoting another porn site from the site they signed up to...

people should start knowing what spam is, and what it isnt..

You're acting like I joined a mailing list. I'm an affiliate. I half-heartedly tolerate emails about sponsors adding 3 new free hosted galleries every week. Those are annoying but I suppose relevant to affiliates who push a particular sponsor hard.

You're not very bright if you can't see that sending out emails unrelated to their program in an attempt to make a few bucks is spamming. At no time did I agree to accept spam.

Oh, and when I clicked the unsubscribe link in their email, this is what I got: "Sorry, we could not find your information in our database." If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it's a duck.

these are different issues.. my point is, and still remains, if in their terms and conditions they said "by signing up, you agree to receive promotions/ads/ whatever from us", then they didnt spam you, you NEED to read the terms before you signup to something..

And like i said before, if i have a shoe site, and collect emails, and in the terms state that i will send you ads i see fit, then if tomorrow i send you emails for a new bestbuy laptop promotion, it IS NOT SPAM, you agreed to it.. pfft..

and the unsubscribe thing, well yeah thats fucked, they are wrong there..

but like i said, and will keep saying for you silly people out there, if you SIGNUP AND PUT YOUR EMAIL ANYWHERE ONLINE, and in the terms it says they can email you for anything, THEN WHEN THEY DO DONT FUCKING complain.. i wish more people read terms and conditions..

youd be surprised how many people dont even read the basic RECURRING TERMS when they join websites.. they see a charge 30 days later then call and bitch and say its a scam, fraud, when they fucking agreed to be charged..

if you fail to read the terms before joining an affiliate program, then its your fault... the terms are there to be read, and nobody reads em, but dont complain when they do shit in THEIR T&C

You didn't even read their terms, did you?

"The WEBMASTER is responsible for providing StarlightBucks with a valid email address which will be used for contact purposes."

There's nothing there about sending me ads. Regardless, they lost several affiliates with this stunt. They fucked up. You and I both know it no matter how ignorant you act.

I didn't sign up for a newsletter. I signed up as an affiliate. Honestly, have you ever been spammed like that from an adult affiliate program? I hadn't.

The amount of email I get keeps going up and the quality keeps going down. Out of a couple hundred emails that get past the spam filters daily, only a few are worth reading. Most are just newsletters that contain crap that nobody actually cares about (like a few links to their latest FHGs).

I am obviously frustrated and ranting. I'll shut up now so I can get to work on shit that matters.

Starlight Bucks is the only program where I continually get spammed (and yes it *IS* the right term) with shit that has NOTHING to do with being an affiliate of their program.

I wonder how successful he was spamming his own affiliate code...

Free Lifetime Membership - Teen

To show our appreciation for you having joined one of our sites, we'd like you to have a Free membership as a bonus!

This isn't a trial, this is a Lifetime Free site, with freshly updated Teen content, to keep you going, which means you never pay a penny for this site, and can keep the membership forever.

Funny thing is.. I have never ever "joined" any of his sites... I've promoted them years ago... but never paid for a membership.

I even requested to be removed from his mailing lists back in March 2009 and I just got the same spam you all did. So he's definitely in violation of CAN SPAM right there and you click on the remove link in the mail and it doesn't work. That's two violations.

Skeet sucks balls.
