Back in my broke ass days, they always towed my cars when they broke down, come out for flats, dead batteries, even if you run out of fuel. Which I don't.

Also, they do all the DMV services and there is never a line there.

I thought you were going to say, Hair Club For Men.

Amen to that. I just used them last week when my clutch went out in my car. They were here within 15 minutes and towed my car to the garage. I've been a member for 10 years :thumbsup

Nope, my old cars. I've had some POS cars in the days. Starting with a 77 Pinto. :Oh crap
But they do come in handy when you need to get a flatbed to take the sports cars to the shop.

I've been a member for years but I had no clue they did DMV things.

They have saved me a few times too! Well worth the money.

raven1083 03-04-2010 01:32 AM

Actually, I think my AAA package is $75 a year. I've been stranded a few times on the side of the road over the last 10 years and I've had them come to my house a few times over the years for issues. Also, as Dave mentioned, they offer DMV services - which I've taken advantage of a lot over the years. :thumbsup

CPimp 03-04-2010 08:16 AM

Yeah here I think they're up to like $100 a year...

yeah, thats what i pay. since almost 21 years now. but i have called them at least 20 times and one time i had a rental car for free for a couple of days. and if i had a serious accident they would even send a plane to pick me up and get me to a specialised hospital

czarina 03-04-2010 09:13 AM

I had AAA up to a year ago. Well worth it

NOTR 03-04-2010 10:14 AM

Don't most cars come with roadside nowadays? If I got a prob I just call roadside provided by the car company.

For $750 you can get a lot of towing done. I know I have been driving a lot longer than you and there is no way that I came anywhere close to that much in the 40 years I have been driving.

What if you don't own a new car?
Plus, the DMV services are worth it on its own.

Walk in and walk straight to the counter. No Lines.

Roby 03-04-2010 12:33 PM

Congrat to you !

AAA is well worth it. I called Mercedes Roadside Assistance once and they never showed up. Fortunately, I also had AAA and the guy was there in 20 minutes. The sad part is that Mercedes was charging me $250 a year for the service. Needless to say, I never renewed with Mercedes.

AAA also provided me with service when I was out on my bicycle. My freehub busted on my bicycle 15 miles from home. I called AAA, gave them the necessary info and a tow truck showed up in less than 30 minutes. Threw my bike in the back and the guy took me home.

If you travel and take advantage of the AAA discounts, your membership will pay for itself on the first trip, i.e. parking at LAX, hotel discounts, shopping mall discounts, etc.

I've had AAA for about ten years now and only used it twice but I like having the extra security since I do a lot of highway driving.

One time I needed a jump for a dead battery so I called AAA. I got a nice girl on the phone and told her what I needed and then explained to her that the driver would need my security code to get past the gate into my neighborhood. She says " don't worry, I already know your security code ". I was dumbfounded and after a pause I asked " how the hell do you know my security code " and she says " my girlfriend lives there too and I go there all the time ". Then it dawned on me that the AAA National headquarters is only a couple miles away from me :upsidedow

Manowar 03-06-2010 08:04 AM
