OH Noooooooes! Google Buzz = Target of Class Action Lawsuit

Lawyer + RSS Feed + Angry feedback/buzz rating from blogosphere/tweets + "real" and "representative" plaintiff + class action = BLING BLING

This might be the start of a new legal niche. Negative buzz chasing. Sure beats chasing ambulances because chasing ambulances means your sneakers might get fuxor3d. Better to rest those wingtips up on a mahogany desk and keep an eye on tweet buzz.

The suit, reported by ABC News, is the first reported suit filed against Google about Buzz, which unexpectedly exposed relationships users had with others when Google turned on the technology. Google has since offered two methods to turn off Buzz.

"I feel like they did something wrong," said Hibnick, an active Gmail user and second-year law student, as quoted by ABC News. "They opted me into this social network and I didn't want it."

Hibnick said that she is not seeking a large cash payout. "What we'd like to see as result is a commitment from Google that they're not going to do this again the next time they launch a product," said Gary Mason, of Washington D.C..'s Mason Law Firm LLP, as quoted by ABC News.
Sure....... HE is not looking for a big payout--there's none anyway. The real winner is the law firm cuz class action suits involve a nice payday. Lodestar method or not.:thumbsup

if you have a google gmail account or other account they have a feature called webhistroy.

web history tracks what pages you go to and what you search for on google.

GOOGLE really wants you to have web histroy on.

sometimes when I log into adwords and I check web histry something I disabled, all of a sudden it is enabled same goes with email etc.

if you go to a friends house that has a google toolbar but say doesnt use gmail, you login to your gmail and dont logout, then pretty much you can sit at home and see what he does online. Obviously if you where to do this to spy youd use a bullshit gmail.

For the haters that don't make money with Google...

thats why i disabled my account permanently. after i opted out of having all my photos indexed the fuckers unchecked the box and i found hundreds of personal pics in the google cache the next week.

killed everything i could find in first. all pics. all posts. all emails. changed the name on it. changed the email on it. basically tried to remove anything i could that was personal.

disabled it. since the fuckwads don't let you delete accounts.

You clearly have no clue. When Buzz came out it was ENABLED BY DEFAULT... Google even admits this and apologized for it. It got information from everything that was already linked in your Google Account, and so you started following people but were never notified about it. Same thing in reverse, people started following you and consequently, could see all your actions BY DEFAULT, since you actually had to go INTO BUZZ to turn it off. If you didn't... it kept running.

The class action addresses how Google thought it was a great idea to add millions of people to a social network they had no idea they were joining in the first place. Oh, and for the record, in the first few days... turning off Buzz was not as easy as it is now.. you couldn't just "disable" it.. you needed to turn off each service in the Google Account, it was actually a little bit of a pain in the ass.

I donno man..on the first day that it came out like an hour after their web speech I was able to have Buzz linked to my account if I wanted to. I signed on to my gmail account and there was a huge screen that said do you want to see what the Buzz is about or some shit. I clicked no and it is not on my account. I have another gmail account and hit yes, on the same day a few minutes apart and it gave me the option who to follow I said no to all. That was it. I follow no one and when someone follows me I block them.

The options were kinda clear to me. Maybe my setup was different then everyone else's? :upsidedow

Yea that would be great, If it does explode I hope I am standing underneath it at the time. Imagine all the money that would fall out of the sky on that day.
