Well it's completely different type of game so it cant be really compared.

It's not exactly a big jump from one RTS to another...

Total Annihilation is the best RTS every, Civ is just Ok.

That game did fucking rock back in the day. So many addon units and download packs. Was really incredible if it's the game I remember it being.

Yeah, as others have said it's a different type of game. There is diplomacy, religion and other things that you have to consider and there are more ways to win that just by war. There are diplomatic, cultural, high score and space race victories as well.

I downloaded a demo of Civilization IV and it was a lot of fun. I went and ordered the full version, you can get the game along with several of the add-ons for $30 on Amazon.

Yes, you can get Civ IV for Mac. I don't believe they have released Civ IV Complete (initial plus two expansions with the separate game Colonization) for Mac so to get the full game, initial game plus two expansions, you will need to buy these two. Civ Gold which has the initial plus the warlords expansion and then the Beyond the sword expansion. Well worth it IMHO.
