bufferover 02-27-2010 06:04 AM

Tamashi 02-27-2010 06:10 AM

Exactly, retarded to build a site on a .net/.org if there's a site already on the .com

fatfoo 02-27-2010 10:46 AM

I think .net is better than .org

Although, .org would be good for an orgy site of some kind.

the .com is a parked page and the owner wants $2,100 for it.
my idea is to have it on .net or .org, build it up and when it makes that amount of money then go and buy the .com.
but i dont know if it will work yet so I dont want to pay the money for it yet.

the name is great, fun and easy to remember.

Agent 488 02-27-2010 11:32 AM

for seo doesn't matter. just not biz or info.

Tamashi 02-27-2010 11:33 AM

Get geocities! Oh wait.. discontinued :1orglaugh

Jarmusch 02-27-2010 12:24 PM

If it's an adult site stay away from .org at all costs.

A porn site on a .org domain is just creepy.

It means .org should be left for non-profit organizations, not fucking porn sites.

You are going to lose type in traffic to him during your build period... thus boosting his traffic... and possibly his perceived value ... if he follows his stats... also, what if he decides to monetize it or even worse, monetize it with a similar site to compete with you..?

michael.kickass 02-27-2010 12:36 PM

I'll go for the .net

Naechy 02-27-2010 01:20 PM

A gambling co bought Poker.org for $1 million recently and the registry who operates .org has been championing the sale. Even they don't give a shit if names are used for non-profit or not. :thumbsup

if .com is not available

I would go with .org works for MSN.com bing.com

.net works good with everything else

.com is best.

one word domains are the best

SEO = Backlinks

Something that give you credibility such as .cc or .ru

Sausage 02-27-2010 09:49 PM

Have actually tested this.

.com reigns supreme in most cases, then .net and .org are pretty close, for country specific searches the country tld's are good, but the likes of .info etc aren't all that much better than throwing up a subdomain.

One thing I've noticed at least in usage of the exts is that Asian countries favor .net while the US favors .org. This is judged by the fact that there are nearly twice as many .org as .net in Quantcast's top million while in Alexa's top million there's considerably more .net, and most of the high .net's I've seen are Asian language sites.

It's hard to know whether SEO could be similarly affected, but Google surely has more information on what visitors in particular areas prefer than anyone else out there and could likely factor that into their algorithm.

chupachups 02-27-2010 10:16 PM

try to get a .int

Agent 488 02-27-2010 10:17 PM

.pro is elite.
