This shit just drives me crazy! These girls have given up the last 4 years of their lives training to bring Canada a gold medal home. They have sacrificed alot of things along the way and so have their families.

So let them have some drinks and smoke some cigars/weed whatever. Let them enjoy their moment, fuck knows we are in our home country so who gives a fuck?!

At Nascar events they spray each other with champagne and in the locker rooms for the nba they throw massive parties after the championships. WTF is the difference here? The arena was closed!

Poor losers i tells ya ;-)

Shaft_1971 02-26-2010 11:45 AM

The party that bugs me the most is that they apologized. What for - Winning the Olympic gold Medal? Celebrating after the win? Or is it for being Canadian - and that's not the Canadian way?

Any other country and no one would have said Shit.

Drink up girls and smoke all the cigars you want - well deserved.

Naechy 02-26-2010 11:46 AM

it is smart enough

BradM 02-26-2010 11:49 AM

I hope the apology is a PR stunt and none of them give a shit.

They were not all of legal age.

"A number of players, including 18-year-old superstar Marie-Philip Poulin, were drinking alcohol on the ice following the team's 2-0 defeat of the United States. (The legal drinking age in British Columbia is 19.)"

CDSmith 02-26-2010 12:13 PM

They're doing Canadian arm curls. What's wrong with that? It's still "athletic" in nature.

Party on Wayne. Party on Garth.

flashfire 02-26-2010 12:39 PM

so stupid this is even a story, my hockey team does this after we lose lol...you should see when we actually win a game. For fuck sakes when a team wins the stanley cup they drink right out of the trophy.

people are so uptight

iwiiiiiiiiii 02-26-2010 12:42 PM

If the media had not spoken about it, it could not have been bad...

That's whatever, how to fill up your live time on TV...

Next time there will be a drama with the F1 and the champagne bottle....

Have your say
Should the Canadian women's hockey team be
punished for its gold-medal celebration?

Yes - (627) 15%
No - (3560) 85%

Pretty decisive poll so far.

Hey when the Canadian guy from Manitoba won gold in the men's skeleton, after the race he and his entourage were walking through the streets of Whistler on their way to do their TV interviews. A camera crew covered his walk, there were tons of people there cheering him on and at one point some chick handed him a full pitcher of beer... and he took a good long guzzle of it as he kept walking. Everyone was cheering.

There was a mention made of it later in the media. I got the feeling he was "cautioned" by some higher ups that it wasn't a smart thing to do, drinking in a public place... but that's it. As far as I know barely an eyebrow was raised over the incident other than it being mentioned to the athlete that it was frowned upon and that some people weren't impressed.

I don't see that these girls should be treated any differently.

Jman 02-26-2010 01:15 PM

WTF is wrong with celebrating a Gold Medla Victory over the USA with a few beers and cigars???

LOL I like Bill1949's comment

"WHO IS HE ?
Give me the name of the slime bucket that had to make a name for himself by being a tattle tale. Let's get the guy and string him up by the family jewels.
You go girls, the game was over and you deserved to celebrate where ever.
Yes, how about the American team trashing their dressing room.
How about the American womens team with the Canadina flag on their dressing room floor"
