Good job Alli

You might want to tell this "mystery webmaster" that the company that has the phone number he used on his "who is" information are not to happy either.

And FYI I recognize some of those other photos he is using and I very seriously doubt he has permission to do so.

Expose & Dispose all cheaters. :ak47:

I find it disturbing that not one of these sponsors wants to help and give up this theifs contact information. What's the deal? No wonder there are so many fucking crooks in this business. No one seems to give a shit unless it happens to them. :feels-hot

Alky 12-25-2002 12:37 PM

they cant just give out peoples information man, i doubt they want to be held liable for anything, whether its in good intention or not.

BV 12-25-2002 01:17 PM

lol What exactly will they be held liable for? harboring a criminal? lol

That information *should* be freely available on a whois - so by not passing valid information on they are just as easy to point a finger at...

BV 12-25-2002 10:56 PM

Alli,

Here is another affiliate of yours ripping me off and making himself and your company profits with my copyrighted images.

Misread that the first time.

I wish these damn companies would be more responsive.. You know they'd expect us to fucking hop-to if our affiliates were using their shit.

BV 12-25-2002 11:28 PM

This thread was started on Christmas Day. Some people do take the day off to be with families and friends. The following day should be a work day and I imagine when these people get back to work this will be high on thier list of priorities. :)

BV, what you have to consider is that its not always a clear cut case of copyright infringement. Sometimes a scammy content broker is to blame, and the webmaster is the innocent victim. Where a content broker sold him pics, but never paid or notified the producer. Trust me this happens so much in this business, most producers aren't even aware how often.

I've had this happen before where I saw a site with pics I owned and then found out a broker who I didn't even have a biz relationship with had just scooped up pics off a site of ours in the members section, packaged them, and was reselling them to webmasters.

I've also been victimized by other photographers who sold me pics they claimed they produced when it turned out it was another photographer who had done it and they were cheating that guy.

So don't always jump the gun on the webmasters, more often then not, especially with newbies, they could have been easily duped thinking they were getting licensed content the proper way.

Its also a sensitive issue releasing account info until the facts are clearly sorted out and true infringement or whatever the problem is is fully evident. You can run into a lot of legal hassles releasing confidential information in an online environment.

That sucks BV.

Big time.

You'll be here everyday making these posts I bet.

Well seing how I don't sell my stuff and keep it EXCLUSIVE there is no way any broker or other content company should be using my pics. if this is what happened here (doubtfull) then all he has to do is direct me to the person that sold the pics to him. (if that is the case)

BUT when he his hiding behind false "who is" info and all of the sponsors involved that make money from this theivery are not telling me jackola then it is kind of hard to get anywhere. The information I want should be public information listed in the "who is". And opensrs has notified the owner of the domain and in 15 days if the who is info is not updated the domain will be deleted. I am guessing that is what will happen. I doubt the who is info gets updated because then they will be exposed. Guess it's just easier to sacrifice a domain than face the wrath of being a cheater.

The way I see it right now all parties involved are dealing in stolen merchandise. The sponsors have tos's for their affiliates to abide by. The affiliates are breaking the tos. These affiliates need to be canned and deleted and the sponsors need to quit accepting traffic from these theives and do whatever they can in order to help. Why wouldn't they? hmmmm

Well if that's what it takes that's what I'll do.
You have to protect your own copyrights, there is no copyright police, it's up to the owner.

Cheers!

Exactly.

There is nothing worst than having something that belongs to you stolen.

Worst case is seeing it used to make money for someone else.

Fuck all that.

Id demand the money he made be paid to you as well.
