yup :( I sleep with the radio on and I woke up to them playing the Clash. I thought a brash of good taste had broken out - then the news came on.

pimpdust 12-23-2002 07:08 AM

Wow... that's pretty fucked up. Why couldn't it be Michael Bolton?

TheGoldenChild 12-23-2002 09:42 AM

I just saw Joe Strummer and the Mescoleros here in SD

I AM SO SAD........

This sucks, and BIG AUDI DYNAMITE never tour so I am stuck with just listening to my old Clash albums...I'll never see the original Clash reunite....

"One day it's fine, the next is black........."

So if you want me off your back, come on and let me know....

Should I stay or I should I go?

RIP JOE

I just read this news... So sad. See ya, Joe.

London calling to the faraway towns
Now that war is declared-and battle come down
London calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, all you boys and girls
London calling, now don't look at us
All that phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London calling, see we ain't got no swing
'Cept for the ring of that truncheon thing

CHORUS
The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Engines stop running and the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
London is drowning-and I live by the river

London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, an' go it alone
London calling upon the zombies of death
Quit holding out-and draw another breath
London calling-and I don't wanna shout
But when we were talking-I saw you nodding out
London calling, see we ain't got no highs
Except for that one with the yellowy eyes

CHORUS

Now get this
London calling, yeah, I was there, too
An' you know what they said? Well, some of it was true!
London calling at the top of the dial
After all this, won't you give me a smile?

I never felt so much a' like

Beastiepoo 12-23-2002 10:11 AM

Yep - died today in his home. 50 years old. Very sad.:(

SykkBoy 12-23-2002 10:15 AM

Truly a sad day.......

I remember thinking I heard the Clash sing "Fuck The Casbah" and then I found out it was "Rock The Casbah" but to this day, I still hear "Fuck the casbah"

ChrisH 12-23-2002 10:47 AM

I just saw this on the news. The Clash were good. I saw them in 83 open for The WHo at Shea Staduim in NY. :(

Sarah_Jayne 12-23-2002 10:48 AM

London Calling is such a great song.

Herb Kornfield 12-23-2002 11:30 AM

Rock on JOe!

GrimShawn 12-23-2002 02:19 PM

It's very sad, just as they get inducted into the hall of fame, and agree to play there first show togeter with the original line up since 1984, Joe Strummer dies.

For people who loved his form of music wil be sad for a long time, in a 2 year span Dee Dee and Joey Ramone and Joe Strummer die!

Sucks big time!

He has one more record done that was planned to come out this summer on Hell-Cat records, we shall see what happens now.

Just sucks he could not hold on for another couple months to be there to be named of the best ever!

Its a sad day in Rock n Roll!! Its such a shame all the good ones die young and Bon Jovi is still putting out fuckin albums.

The Clash is one of the Ten greatest bands in the history of Rock N Roll and did more in their short time than what most bands will ever acheive in a lifetime.

Joe I'll miss ya brother!!!
Another Labatts :drinkup for ya!!! yet another fallen comrade

Sarah_Jayne 12-23-2002 03:03 PM

Before I go to bed tonight I am blasting out London Calling ..screw the neighbors

Greg N 12-23-2002 03:35 PM

The Clash ruled and will truly be missed. As soon as I get off work I am gonna have a pint or two (or three) in honor of Mr. Strummer and The Clash!

I wish it would have been Bono. That will be a good day.

cluck 12-23-2002 11:03 PM

Damn I'll always remember that day. I was at CBGB's celebrating Agnostic Front's 20th anniversary while Joe Strummer, one of my heroes since I was a middle school kid was dying.
