I know a few cops, few sheriffs, etc... they don't have to tell you if you ask them.

If you don't trust me because I'm friends with cops, then that's more than fine with me. It's not like I go golfing with them or have them over for dinner - but it's always good to have friends in different places.

If you ask a law officer/agent if they are a cop or not, they do not have to tell you the truth. If you're doing anything they suspect as illegal, they can flat out lie to you.

I was for 10 years here in Ohio, that's never been a secret. Your statement above is 100% false (in most states here in the US), so I hope you never rely on that train of thought if you ever find yourself in such a situation. I lost count of how many times I lied to suspects/targets over the last few years I was in LE. Further, at least here in Ohio, should a LE agent find himself in a situation that he's got to "test the shit" or whatever (assuming it were a drug related offense investigation), there's case law to make that a legal action in the line of duty. Hell there's a famous school here in Ohio that trains LE agents all over the country/world on how to simulate doing 99% of the drugs on the street, and how to do it safely if you've got a gun to your head.
