Yes, you can really do that. If I remember right, the old ones used an infrared controller, and the new ones are wireless.

They've been messed with by me, but the signs tend to be the older ones that bossku69 refers to. Zombies Ahead was done in SoFla... very funny to see :) The folks that did it even changed the lock on the box so DoT couldn't switch it back immediately.
