Military Coup Ousts Niger President

A coup has taken place in Niger and the president has been captured after a gun battle in the capital, Niamey.

In a television announcement, a spokesman for the plotters said Niger's constitution had been suspended and all state institutions dissolved.

The country was now being led by a group called the Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy (CSRD), the spokesman said.

President Mamadou Tandja is believed to be in captivity at a military barracks.

No it's acutally Niger. It is a country. But the thread starter knew what they were doing...they pulled the news article (that no one would give a fuck about anyways) right off of the front page of Digg.com where the comments (predictably so) quickly degraded into racial shit.

Ok look I don't read digg... I pulled this off of BBC and posted the article name AS IT WAS WRITTEN... the racial slur isn't even spelled the same.

Yes I'm in NC, I just moved here a year ago... but it IS Asheville which is a very hippie type of community so... doesn't really work when you factor in the city.
