What are the best ways for a Noob Affiliate to learn about traffic!

I've talked with many affiliates that are new to the adult industry and the common thread between them seems to be the lack of knowledge in how to get traffic to their sites.

Does anyone know of a simple tutorial that would help out these Noob Affiliates....

like maybe Affiliate Traffic for Dummies :upsidedow

Seriously if we want to see the return of the affiliates as a viable and valuable source of some good targeted traffic them I think it best that any of the "Traffic or Affiliate Program Veterans" step up that are interested in helping these guys out. :thumbsup

Thanks for any feedback... it's all good:pimp

I will try and put in my 2 cents here.

I read among many forums and people tend to belive there is a quick way to earn cash in the online venture.

I see people selling potential sites after 1 month cause they arent earning or getting 100k daily as they thought they would do after 2 days.

It's all about having an idea and making reality of the idea, when u have turned it into a website you need endless of hours in submitting new content to your site and working on the linktrades and such. However I wait for my sites like 1-2-3 months before I even do a single linktrade on it, ( tip from a friend which I have tried to follow )

The links should come natural and not mass added. The content should be uniuque and should target your site and audience, so if ya run anal niche people dont come to your site browsing for puke content. So stick to relevant content and update, update, update, update.

As for picking a niche...well...if u see 200 tv stores on your street and think about opening a tv store yourself...think again.

There are lots of programs creating new and unique websites for us to promote.
Pimproll.com
Sextronix.com
and many others..sign up with them and check out the hot new sites and see what keywords you can work on to get organic traffic (Search engines)

When you start to get a stable flow with traffic to your site, start to figure out what kind of ads will work and where on the site. Dont have an excessive amount of ads tho, it will only annoy your visitors and they migt stop come to your site. I suggest not to use popunders like 88% of the other websites out there, tell me if I am wrong here but ...more than me starting to get sick over the fucking livejasmin pop on every fucking site? :D

I hope this post can give you a small grip of what I think is a good way to get traffic and begin working online.

Patience grasshopper... if you think you'll be making mad bling by the end of the week, then get the fuck out now and save yourself the hassle. Seriously.

I totally agree with you here.... same thing I tell the Noobs :thumbsup

Seriously I think that the days of 'making mad bling' in a short period of time are long gone but the purpose of the thread is for anyone that has any ideas for the Noob Affiliate to help them learn more about traffic and what might work best for their particular needs.

Any ideas, knowledge or comments welcome.

Well they can work hard, build a circle of blogs, after SPENDING a lot of time, and build up some traffic.. BUT if the sponsor is gonna give them a 0:10,000 conversion, then they are going to fail, no matter how hard they try.

And let's honest here, nowadays it's becoming very hard for those new guys to make sales, I don't even imagine, DAMN, how hard it must be in an expensive country to make a living for the AVERAGE adult webmaster... so Jim, you should tell them truth about the current adult business situation so then they can decide if they still want to try their best or want to get a real daily job.

4 years ago I would see at least 20 more replies by now.

I think if you want to be an affiliate in this business today, and your starting out, you NEED to already have a day job. Period. Five year later and i'm making out pretty good, and for a part time commitment, I have no complaints, but I certainly don't kid myself thinking if I did this full time i'd all of a sudden make double or triple. Takes time and lots and lots of patience. Google doesn't bestow SERPs upon you overnight... usually takes at least a month or two before you actually see any results.

Try something, look at your competitors, copy success, rinse and repeat. Don't be lazy. Ditch the sites not making you money and most of all DON'T EVER FUCKING GET PERSONALLY INVOLVED. Build, build and build some more. Buy keyword domains and avoid the dashed ones like the plague. Don't even think of using anything other than .COM's. Sign up to every webmaster board and stay on top of what's going on. Look at the bigger picture. Get decent hosting, virtual servers are not your enemy, and get DECENT hosting. Did I mention get decent hosting? Stop using free hosts, and don't use sponsor free hosting, you don't need it.

I can go on and on and on... but this is good enough for now.

Babaganoosh 03-03-2010 11:11 PM

Why would any of us want to help train our competition? Anyone who shares their knowledge is an idiot. I don't understand the "help the newbies learn" mentality. Nobody ever helped me out. There were no tutorials and nobody to hold my hand when I started.

Everything I know I worked hard to learn on my own through trial and error. I'll be damned if I teach anyone what I know out of the goodness of my heart.

baddog 03-03-2010 11:19 PM

Start here for general info, then figure out what they want to push and narrow the search.

GAMEFINEST 03-03-2010 11:31 PM

Tell them to start a blog..

fatfoo 03-03-2010 11:35 PM

Try seaching the "Q&A Forum" - there were some nice tutorials there.

I started my first blog a year ago and after a lot of work (let me emphasize - A LOT OF WORK) and a few more blogs later I am finally making some money. Not enough to live off of (which is why I do freelance work) but hopefully it will be down the road. I've made more than a few miss steps here and there but always tried to learn from them. I still haven't cracked the secret for getting a shit ton of traffic but I also promote some smaller niches so I don't need 30K hits to make one sale like you see with over saturated niches. Here are some things that I have learned (they are blog centric cause thats what I focus on)

- Make a quality site. Spend time on it, don't just crank shit out.
- Promote niches that you personally like (you will be more inclined to update them)
- Try and find a niche that isn't too over saturated.
- Trade links with sites that you think are good and of a similar niche
- Purchase some traffic and see how it does, if you made a quality site then some of the traffic you buy will probably convert (not as much as organic traffic though)
- Most importantly DONT make a site that you wouldn't personally want to visit. You are your own quality control.

I still have A LOT to learn and a long way to go but that's my :2 cents:

digitaldivas 03-04-2010 05:17 AM

It's a hard road these days for newbies, imho.

My Porno Life has 261 posts.

I get about 500 - 800 hits a day for the main blog (mostly from search engines) and a little bit less a day for the others. I know that I could get more if I wrote my articles with more key words but I want to make the blog's style unique to me.

I'm saving this thread in hopes that others can provide some more help on the subject. How does one get 10k+ hits a day? Hell, I'm excited when The Hun sends me 4k in one day! :upsidedow

There are really some nice tips here! Thanks!:)
Well, i also always wonder how to attract 10+K traffic to my blogs. I already have a good niche for me and nice converting program (in my sig;) ), but i definitely need more traffic.

Sponsors are ok with you watermarking their content with your domain?

Vjo 03-04-2010 02:53 PM

And what makes it all more complicated.. I could copy your site and your sponsors and probably have completely diff results because my traf srcs, my jargon, my feel, my other sponsors used, ect ect.

Starting as a noob affil today is like going to trade school for 2 years to eventually, (not right away) work at a Micky D's salary. And if you don't have any money to lose (to invest) make that 4 years.

The only guys around now days are guys who have walked deep into the woods and it is way too late to go back or cross over now.

Margins are extremely thin all round. You can't escape that. It is very hard in the trenches and really almost impossible except for old vets who have tried 100 things over many years and NOW have maybe 6 that work and make a small profit.

Would I enter the woods 15 years ago if I knew my fate? (at first I wrote no) but Yes. Only because being my own boss is the most important thing to me.

But if it is not the most important thing in life to you I'd say go unload a truck. Plus you'll stay in shape without exercise. Which the older me now sees as worth something ($$$) too. :)

You'll make more in a day than you will in a week as an affil noob in this biz. And that is after you put the years in for free (or shorter if you want to throw some money at your education) to try 100 things.

Vjo 03-04-2010 03:09 PM

Being an affil in the porn biz is pretty much a joke now days to be honest. Lots of sparrows all going for the same small slice of old apple pie.

But there is nothing but woods all around. So we take our sickles and cut forward another day.

And we do it with a smile.. :)

while we worry about our future in this (now) low margin biz.

Vjo 03-04-2010 03:53 PM

One last thing.. it can be done and there ARE some good paths but I don't think one vet affil will disagree that you must try the 100 to find the 6. There ARE no real maps to walking the porn woods in search of the sweet valley.

Therein is why I know noone is coming down my path behind me.

Vjo 03-04-2010 05:12 PM

Still the one hungry, crazy kid will enter the woods with a mission to succeed no matter what and someday when I am high on a hill I will see him coming. He will come down my path. I will shake his hand in respect and say congratz. :)

Because although all the low hanging fruit is gone it is still a beautiful life. A quiet peaceful valley I have found. It is out there.

But I might have to set a few trip wires and booby traps along the way. :)

Noone gives secrets or traffic src's. But I will say good luck. :)

It's lonely in the woods. I don't mind some company, but not an army. :)

Once in a while when I am higher yet on a hill I see a glimpse of many of your paths. But like a fraternity of mountain men, your secret's safe with me.

They must walk the woods.

the only people that make money off of buying traffic is traffic brokers. The only way a site makes money is having unique content that you can not get from a tube site.

If you sell generic porn, forget it.

And don't take advice from people here. 99.875% of the people here are affiliates and do not own or create sites. They will give you advice that benifits themselves. They will give you links to "where you should buy traffic" but the links are affiliate links. They will tell you how to run your site and how to advertise it, when they themselves don't own a site and don't understand the risks of over exposure.

Bottom line: Don't rep anything you can get for free.

Listen to the little voice inside yourself.

Trial and error is the way to go to discover how to market you own product.

Take advice only from those people you know personally, not some stranger typing aimlessly into a computer at 7:30 a.m. in the morning. ;)

i do ok with my blog www.clownx.com
