grilled cheese....its more than just cheese n bread
 

my wife swears im out of my mind for what i just made


green apple slices
aged sharp cheddar cheese
wholegrain bread

and grilled it up ...

anyone else make unique grilled cheese sandwiches??

I have tried ham, tomato, and onion in my grilled cheese but never any fruit.

The apple sounds interesting... apple does go well with cheese fondue.

i was goolging for more grilled cheese and i saw someone add onto my oringal posted recipe and add bacon .... hmmm

I love GC... I make em all the time. Bacon, cheese... I try everything.

I usually add bacon and/or other types of cheese to GC. Never added fruit.

I saw a show once about a restaurant that specialized in grilled cheeses and they did something very similar to that. I think it sounds good.

that's no longer a grilled cheese sandwich though - it's a ham n cheese - made me drool though

haven't done it in years but i used to put pizza sauce on the cheese and then grill it - a pizza style grilled cheese sandwich.

Now I'm hungry

I like to add potatoe chips and smoked oysters,with Canadian back bacon and Old fort cheddar with a slice of onion,tomatoe,pickle on rye bread
