An open letter to Real Touch and AEBN.
 

You can't use the Real Touch without your own VOD. Being that VOD is still a pretty big business, one would think the smart business move would be to give the "cuntraption" away for free and get customer loyalty in return.

I'm pretty sure it costs more than $200.00 for Microsoft to build an XBox 360. The real money is made with the games and recurring online income so any loss taken with the sale of the game console is regained 10 fold with the sale of content and service.

The "average" VOD customer would rather spend $200.00 on VOD credits than buying a sex toy when his hand and some lube will suffice.

Programs pay for free joins and those members can simply cancel and go to another site that has what they want. Who else offers Real Touch VOD content? Nobody. This means there is nowhere to go so if they like what the toy does, THEY WILL BE BACK.

I agree, because I don't foresee it being overly successful the way it is currently being structured (especially given the current financial market). But, hopefully for them, maybe I am wrong.

too much r&d to give it away. if you want a good phone with all the bells and whistles, they're not giving those away either, they sell them a bit cheaper IF you sign a two year contract and pay a monthly bill, but thats it. i am sure the cost of making a real touch device is not cheap and they are not making alot on the device sales, so giving them away would be financially hazardous.

Hell an Xbox 360 is still 600$ here.

Maybe lower the price to like $50? I think you are right about the high price.

The problem is that the cost price doesn't matter nearly as much as the viable price point (the amount the consumer is willing to spend). At a certain point, a product becomes no longer fiscally viable.


Edit: I agree with Nicky that a price point of around $50 may produce more interest while softening the financial burden.

The problem with the real touch being cheap compared to the product costs as you mentioned xbox or PS is that some people could end up purchasing it without the continued purchase of the VOD?

So far, I haven't sent a ton of traffic, but sent about 1700 qualified clicks (not blind, knew what they were clicking on, etc.) and ended up with 8 "signups" which I thought might be sales that wouldn't post until maybe the product was shipped or something. It turns out that wasn't quite the case, it was 8 people who signed up/submitted from the order page for whatever, but backed out of the purchase or otherwise didn't purchase. So, here are people that were interested in the technology but for some reason didn't end up buying it (or maybe they will at a later date). It seems maybe the price of the device itself is holding some people back and maybe some sort of package offer might appeal to them more. Or is something getting lost between them filling out the initial form and them deciding not to purchase the product? I could see it one a couple submits, but with 8 am wondering if maybe there is something missing?

I'm not bitching, just wanting to see if these 8 signups could have been truned into sales if something were adjusted.

Just feedback from someone who is steadily promoting the product and thinks it will catch fire like the fleshlight did...I've always liked AEBN and would love to send more traffic and see what happens, but am worried about them signing up, but just not buying the device.

they are willing to pay, they are buying it. keep in mind this is a sophisticated robotic device, the first of its kind. granted as you stated earlier, in this economic climate it makes the prospect for rapid profitablility dificult, but i really get the idea that they can't do much better on the initial price point.

For the record, I see they get 60 minutes of time, a bottle of lube, etc. included, but maybe they need more incentive or ?

that is interesting because i have sent almost that amount of traffic and gotten 4 sign ups, no sales yet. and thinking as well maybe a few are holding off for a future date or something.

and yes, possibly they could double the minutes on the initial sale from 60 to 120?

Which is one of the reasons for the long delay in the roll out of it. The endless coding of their library. That said, I do not think you are going to get most males, in mass, to jam their dick in some machine.

I predict total failure on this business model..

First, price point is too high to then ask for a recurring with no one time payment content option (at least I don';t see that as an option)...

Second, the customer needs to have an internet connection to get off. What if he loses connectivity during a session. I would be pissed. Let people download content and put in security measures.

Finally, offer an option where the customer commits long term to a lower device price and x amount of minutes or content per month.

The idea is strong, but the business model is crazier than a ferris wheel operator... :2 cents:

If they come down to earth and make it reasonable, say, five to ten cents.. they will get this going. They're looking at it like this, well, we have to charge that to recover our encoding costs and what it cost to design the machine.

However, I have a friend who recently bought a $500.00+ electric shocker vibrator gadget thingy for his girl. Point being that their are those who will pay for higher priced sex toys...BUT, unlike VOD, high priced sex toys do not appeal to the mass market.

On this thread you will see as i stated in the other thread, i made 4 sign ups and no sales, the only revenue coming from a webmaster(s) in my ref tree who did make sales.

and you should pay royalties to the person who originally made that point.

I made the suggestion back when they first started making this to encode some vids for me for it. I could sell these like a motherfucker to CM's members IF they could use it with her vids.

She is on several DVD's on AEBN including 2 that we did that star only her...but none of them are encoded for REAL TOUCH.

I believe they are totally missing the boat by not encoding these things for more of the popular solo girls who have their own sites and members area traffic. That shit is gold for something like this.

Claudia-Marie's members would love it. Kelly Madison, Lisa Sparxxx, Celeste Fox, Brittany Love, etc., etc.

I can't sell a product that pricey to the general public off my tgps (already been trying and have ZERO sales), and I can't sell it to my member base unless it ties in to Claudia-Marie somehow.

I've never promoted FleshLight. But I've made a helluva lot of money with AEBN over the years.

I just think they need to focus the films they are encoding. Instead of trying to just encode films for the "famous" "stars" (as if anybody still buys porn valley dvds anymore), they should get some vids for the girls who have their own successful sites.

MUCH better chance that a dedicated fan will buy a Real Touch to be able to feel what the object of his desire feels like to fuck...than somebody buying one to randomly feel what Puma Swede or Sara Jay or ~insert generic "working" porn girl~ feels like.

True fans already belong to the big solo girl sites. They are incredibly loyal and would most likely be the easiest to sell this technology to.

But when I go into my account to try and sell the Real Touch...the vids are just the generic porn valley DVDs featuring those same old girls fucking those same old guys in L.A.

That's a hard sell to try and make. Which sucks because I think the Real Touch could be huge. But the marketing and targeting of it is all wrong right now.

this is what I was thinking when I saw the product. It would be ideal for solo-girl sites that could sell these to their users. I can imagine how well it would do in a live chat with the girl with her pretending to please the guy POV style.

I think vstroker.com will give them a run for their money. They plan of giving the device away for free with a subscription and it works with the Fleshlight, no charge per min, etc.
