Going to watch the Olympics?

After the billions spent on something that will last 2 weeks,Like most working men,I wouldn't piss away a few k on an event just to say I watched a game. The global economy hasn't stabilized.the taxpayers will pay for it for the next 20 plus years.what a waste and a bonehead maneuver.the Olympics are so over rated.
But I'll watch the hockey.Go Canada :glugglug

Rique 02-11-2010 02:07 AM

Not if us on the West Coast once again get shafted with that TV delay considering the shit is taking place here on the west coast to begin with.

Dirty Dane 02-11-2010 02:09 AM

If you have European IP, then you can watch everything live, recorded, make your own playlist etc. here:
http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/olympics/

The coalition also have HD streaming and live streams from most of the European national channels. Read more here:
http://www.ebu.ch/en/union/news/2009/tcm_6-67279.php

And it's free :thumbsup

knowing vancouver it will probably rain the entire 2 weeks anyways. i've never had any interest in watching the olympics.

Sarah_Jayne 02-11-2010 06:19 AM

Yes, I always do and the winter Olympics is when you get to enjoy seeing people doing ridiculously dangerous things. So, what is not to enjoy? Plus,London is next so it is also going to be a sport to see if our mayor manages to make a fool of himself. He usually does.

BIGTYMER 02-11-2010 07:47 AM

I love the Olympics. You can bet your sweet ass I'll be watching them.

Summer is better but I enjoy them both. Its all about female beach volleyball. :)

Loch 02-11-2010 07:50 AM

Richard we should go get a beer or 2 during the games!!!

Got Porn? 02-11-2010 09:53 AM

I'll be watching hockey. I really don't care for the NHL anymore but I love Olympic hockey.

quiet 02-11-2010 09:56 AM

i am literally living in the Olympics. Creekside is a full-on police state now. Nothing but metal fences, huge, HUGE amount of police everywhere, military, hell there are two security check points on the turn off to my home, in a space of less than two blocks.

check out the surveillance blimp lol:

http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._7390121_n.jpg

anyway, the torch arrived here a couple of days ago, i got some pics (this is through Creekside):

http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._3242798_n.jpg

about a block from where i live:

http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._1452880_n.jpg

military helicopters are flying overhead all day and all night. but to answer the question, my girl works for Intrawest, so she got us great deals on some events. we have 5 tickets to the men's luge, another 5 for the women's downhill, and tix for 2 for two of the 'victory celebrations', one of them has Devo playing to a group of a couple hundred people lol. that should be good. i can't wait for it to be over, and yes, it's a crazy amount of money to spend. 1 billion on security, insane. at least we got a new highway out of it.

TheDoc 02-11-2010 09:59 AM

I don't recall watching the summer Olympics, unless the wife had it on, so I don't assume I will be watching this year either.

I would go to the Olympics and watch... but sports on TV is madly boring to me.

TheDoc 02-11-2010 10:00 AM

Pics don't seem to be coming up Quiet...

quiet 02-11-2010 10:02 AM

shit, working for me. weird.

Jensen 02-11-2010 11:07 AM

will be watching most of it, hopefully we'll do good.. tricky with the time difference though

Tom_PM 02-11-2010 11:16 AM

I'm guessing I'll be watching it all of the time since coverage should be nearly round the clock. Love the winter olympics ever since I was a kid.

alexchechs 02-11-2010 11:37 AM

I will be all over the winter olympics this year...

That is going to more or less be the case for me in 2012..right on my door step.

RachelPanda 02-11-2010 11:56 AM

I will be watching and cheering for our cute little hometown hero, Lindsay Vonn!

leedsfan 02-11-2010 02:12 PM

finally snowing on the mountains, last night and today. Good news as the mens downhill is on saturday...
I am going to lots of the events, including hockey, luge, curling and a few other bits and pieces. I'm going to go downtown and party with all the visitors from all over the planet, and I think it's going to be great. Given that Vancouver is going to have the hangover from hell dealing with the debts and other issues associated with hosting the games I plan on getting as much as I can from this event while it's here.

leedsfan 02-11-2010 02:13 PM

I'm off to go watch the torch coming through my neighborhood today. If i get time to upload some pics or video today I will...

does this work? vid i took a couple days ago. it's dumping now pretty good, and going to dump lots tonight, tomorrow, and bigtime on sat. the actual mountain is dead as dead gets, so it's a great time to go riding/skiing.
