Looking for a good horror film to rent on itunes

Here are a few of my favorite horror film. Maybe you can recommend one that won't make me regret wasting two hours of my life watching it.

Fearless Vampire Killers
Dawn Of The Dead
Zombie
Interview With A Vampire

I thought the Texas Chainsaw Massacer with Jessica Beal was good.

My mom is a huge horror fan, she brought me to see "Omen" and "the night of the living dead" as a kid.

I was just watching last night "End of Days" with Arnold Shwartz...kind of scary.

CYF 02-10-2010 02:11 PM

Zombieland is out now. If you haven't seen it, it's a good one to catch.

quiet 02-10-2010 02:13 PM

zombieland, night of the living dead.

Bricks will be shat :thumbsup

ShellyCrash 02-10-2010 06:42 PM

out of that list, Dawn of the Dead for sure. New or original, can't go wrong.

Zombieland is new and also really awesome, though it's not really scary at all.

Return of the Living Dead is one of my personal favorites.

MrKinkade 02-10-2010 08:28 PM

i would try showgirls...... the acting alone in that should scare the shit ou tof you....

on a serious note hellraiser or exorcist

Caligari 02-10-2010 08:39 PM

you should check out FEAST...wow what a great horror film, made for 1 million bucks as part the the project greenlight thing- restored my faith in the horror genre-

also as damianj said, anything argento is a good bet, the stendahl syndrome is freaking great, of course almost any cronenberg-

alot of good japanese horror too, one really really over the top flick is Tokyo Gore Police...holy shit its wild-

that guys earlier film than Hostel, Cabin Fever, is really really good and creepy, also some funny shit in there-

MediaGuy 02-10-2010 08:39 PM

The remake of The Hills Have Eyes is excellent.

:D

ShellyCrash 02-10-2010 08:49 PM

My bad, I just realized I misread your original post.

Return is still Awesome. I would check out Superia by Argento if you haven't seen it, Invasion of the Bee Girls is pretty awesome if you can find it. If you like Fearless Vampire Killers, it;s not as good, but I think you would like it.

ICQ me if your interested, might be able to hook you up w/ a copy.

Thanks for all the good suggestions, people!

if you want a real horror movie, go with high tension.

LOVED that movie, hated the end. First half was spectacular, last quarter started to hang and ending much to be desired I thought.

Don't rent the "Mirrors" remake tough...

Brujah 02-11-2010 07:36 AM

Some good suggestions. Fearless Vampire Killers is an old favorite of mine.

Let the Right One In is great.
Have you seen Blood and Donuts?
Near Dark?

bronco67 02-11-2010 08:28 AM

The Descent is the best horror movie of the decade.

The Decent is good too, but the first 15-20 mins of it feels like a lifetime movie for women. If you can make it through that part, you're in for some really good stuff. :thumbsup

have you watched the evil dead series? same director, similar vibe, they are my all-time favorites, but more funny than actually scary. army of darkness is fucking hilarious.

ottopottomouse 02-11-2010 09:52 AM

Drag Me To Hell
Hostel

Already suggested but great films. If anybody recommends Paranormal Activity they need shooting.

I'm crap with film titles. I watch loads but can't remember what they are called when anybody asks for a recommendation and often they have been foreign-language with subtitles that not a lot of people like to watch because of having to read all the dialogue.

Only ones I can think of the name of are Ringu and Ringu 2 - japanese films which were remade as The Ring.

ShellyCrash 02-11-2010 10:12 AM

Has anyone here seen Dead Snow yet?

http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2009/01/1...now-poster.jpg

It was suposed to come out on DVD in I think late november 09, in time for Xmas. I had planned to buy it as an x-mas gift but then Blockbuster pulled some exclusive bs with the distributor and the DVD got pushed back to I want to say March but the movie started being available for rental through the chain in January.

Anyway, I'm pretty pissed at blockbuster for fucking up my xmas shopping, and my V-day shopping since they're still not selling them yet- even the used copies... so I'm holding off renting it since I think it will make the ultimate surprise gift, even if it's down the road.

Also Trick R Treat is awesome. It went direct to DVD so when it came out in October we did a special showing of it at a local cinema drafthouse w/ a bunch of our friends. :thumbsup

quiet 02-11-2010 10:15 AM

dead snow is AWESOME.

Oh, bummer! It was campy, but that's what I really loved about it. It reminded me alot of Creepshow.

I wish they'd make another Creepshow- always good stuff!

You bet. Sam Saimi is one of my favorites. Love Bruce Campbell too!

The story behind them making the first Evil Dead is great and Army of Darkness is an absolute classic.

yah but you have to admit the incident in the first 5 minutes is pretty jolting, extremely well done- decent is really an amazing horror film but they issued an alternate ending that SUCKED!

and apparently the sequel stuck with the lame alternate ending...what a crock!

Totally, totally!

I never saw the sequel, but hearing that kinda makes me not interested.

For the other peeps mentioning Shaun of the Dead, I don't know why that didn't come to mind, I fucking love that movie!

For asian horror, I am also a fan. I even like the cheaper / gimmicy movies like One Missed Call. The american version really sucked by the way, don't judge it by that. :2 cents:
