Ok some of ya know that I have been more sick this past month etc.. well the other day I spent most of the day in the hospital No I wasn't dieing it was just crowded argh$%^

Well I was told strep throat I knew it had to be bad cause never had my throat hurt my neck and my tounge like this. Well they gave my phat ass a penicillian shot OUCH LET ME Tell ya that was a BITCH still hurts my ass lol well I was seen on the 19th prior to this huge ass shot I was on two different antiboitics MY throat is still hurting like a bitch my tounge under my neck hell I cant even suck on a cig without dieing from the pain. ANYONE have any HOME methods to take care of this type of pain, I can not and WILL not get narcotics cause I am to stupid and don't know how to take the reg doses and not go loony lol When I wake up its like someone took a bat and smacked my phat ass in the neck it hurts so damn much cant swallow or breath too good. So like i said anyone know of anything besides HOT tea lemon/honey to help make the pain go away. I can not run to the store at the moment my babies are asleep so im screwed there..

Strep Throat is aweful and hurts like a bitch. You might not want to be smoking right now at all. lol!

I used to get it all the time when I was younger.. My grandmother had me gargle with warm salt water.. As warm an as salty as you can stand it. It will help clear the infection.

I have had it before and I feel for ya.

It went away pretty fast after the shot and oral antibiotics. Smoking probably won't help things get better. Try the patch for a few days until your throat gets better.

Believe it or not.. vinegar can help.. a teaspoo or more in a glass of water.. gargle then swallow. Any kind of vinegar will work but of course cider vinegar or a wine vinegar don't taste as off.

Almonds or any kind of nuts..and a couple of teaspoons of honey..mixed up then chew away. The honey soothes.. the nuts reduce inflammation.

Chamomille tea

Run a humidifier in the room where you sleep.

Watered down whiskey or bourbon (warm water)

If you have any turmeric (a spice) in the house, add it to a glass of milk brought to a boil... let it cool a bit and drink it slowly (adding sugar can make it taste better).

drink lots and lots of water. drink hot liquids too. i usually drink hot chocolate and as someone else said gargle with salt water.

Hey thanks PK ya know Gemini's hubby said the same thing about the vinager so im going to go try it. Just woke up and DAMN MY throat is still hurting like a BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone else but I can not drink just as the pain killers above Im too stupid when it comes to drinking. Being clean and sober for so long don't want nothing to screw taht up.

I wish I had the GONADS to quit smoking I swear to the porn gods when I get better I will try to quit smoking AGAIN I want to start working out again and getting my phat ass into shape. OK let me go try this vinager prolly will puke :(

If you aren't allergic to asprin or anything like that you could have someone stop by an herbal store and grab you some willow bark... brew it up into a nice tea and flavor it with some honey and peppermint. It's a mild painkiller and it's very soothing to sore throats :)

Willow Bark Tea is the bomb...

PK is right about the vinegar. It's a general mucous cleaner. Apple vinegar works best. Drink a cup or more a day straight. People think they are bigtime when they take a shot of Jack Daniels... wait til you see what you can handle after a few drinks of vinegar!

I used to get a really bad infection that kills me under the tongue and behind the ear about once a year until I went to the best herbalist in NYC. He told me to use REAL powdered goldenseal and REAL powdered myrrh boiled down together into a tea.

That visit was 4 years ago. Since then I haven't had even a cold for more than 2 days. At the first sign of a cold or under the tongue pain I drink that concoction and drink at least a gallon of water over the course of the day. V8 Splashers instead of water works even better.

1 heaping tablespoon of goldenseal and 1 level teaspoon of myrrh with 1 1/2 cups of water simmered down to 1/2 cup is the recipe.

Let me warn you, it tastes even worse than the vinegar but you will be clean as a whistle. So clean you might even pass a drug test or two! :1orglaugh

Humans only get sick from *other* things, most likely other people.

Since I have worked exclusively from home 3 years, I have never been sick once.

Make sure you take your antibiotics the way the directions say, scarlet fever is what you get if you don't and thats not fun.

hot drinks is always helping me when i am sick
make a nice irish coffee, with LOTS of whiskey ;)

I know you said something other than honey, etc, but that's all I can think of. Thin out some honey with vinegar, make it about half and half, and then drink that. The vinegar will thin the mucous, as someone else said, and you know that the honey will soothe your throat a little. I get strep a lot too, the only other thing I found helpful was to take a long hot shower and cough up as much of the shit as I could while I was in there.
