Serious Question About Starting Over

I get the fact that, like anything, this business takes a lot of hard work and dedication. That being said I am curious ... If you are building one main central Hub site that would have everything .. movies, web cam links, pictures, erotic stories, so on as a "find everything you want here" web site and work on it 2 - 3 hours a day - how long do you think it would take to reach $1,000 a month ? 2-3 hours of real work, not dicking around at the boards.

It seems to me that most people in this business probably may feel they put in 8-12 hour days but most of what they consider work is either networking or bullshitting and doing research. I am talking actual work on the site. Not looking to get rich again in this business, I would just like to build a sustainable $36,000 a year business in the next year with a few hours of work a day - not sure if it's a crap shoot or not but I'm going to try :)

It's really all very relative. It depends on what you do, how your brain works, your level of stamina, sleep patterns, dedication..... etc...

There is no one universal answer.

As a designer, sometimes I put in 16 hour days of back breaking work. Sometimes only 15 minutes. Some days not at all. Average is about 6 hours of design work (because my eyes are fried after that), and a few hours of other admin stuff. If I'm feeling crazy, maybe a few hours of fucking around.

Am I rich? Far from it. But I'm not starving either.

I think it shouldn't be too hard to reach your goal of $1k per month. McDonalds can give you that. If you can't make $1k per month with say, 2-3 hours of work 2 days a week, or 4-5 hours of work every other day, then you're in the wrong biz and should polish up the old resume.

I can make $1k in my sleep.

You are the wildcard in your equation. If you suck at marketing, development, traffic generation etc. then 20 hours a day wouldn't be enough.

$1000.00 a month?

You can make that with a few clip stores, a few hours, and some decent content.

Same can be said with a celebrity site(s).

Additionally, it will not take you 16 hours a day.

Correct.

99% of the newbies I talk to about this industry simply do not want to work. I am not saying it takes you 12-18 hours a day, 7 days a week. But there is a 'routine' and you have to do it consistently. Regardless of sales, or your mood.

You also need to constantly be tracking, tweaking, and adjusting.

Thanks everyone .. To be honest I have more of a background in managing my own affiliate program is where my real success was at. I was never great at traffic generation, but I don't think that means I can't do it. I don't think I ever put forth the real effort except back in the very very early days of this business when you could instantly add your site to alta vista and get traffic 3 minutes later lol.

Time will tell I suppose

I remember 'instant traffic' too.... that shit was awesome man. Too bad it couldn't last.

LOL I remember you would literally resubmit new pages every 10 minutes for each term because even when you got a top 3 ranking ... It never lasted more than an hour or two lmao !! Good Times

Painfully true. While I myself work 16-18 a day, 8 days a week, i, myself, am a zombified recluse eggplant.

Good luck man, seems like we have the same goal.
Maybe in future we can help us eachothers with good suggestions, link exchange and so on.

i can take a shit, wrap it in tinfoil, put fish hooks on it, and make $1000 a month..

the more times you fail and succeed, the easier success becomes...

most people quit when just around the corner is the finish line... (write that down).. :2 cents:
