Jen, do you know what the % Apple is taking these days from the app world? they must be doing something right because their 4th quarter results were like double in revenues over previous year or something like that I read.

I think with the iPhone its more a matter of volume since majority of Apps are only a couple bucks if that. More consumers are jumping on the iPhone bandwagon since last year, I know within my immediate circle of friends, majority of us now have iPhones.

Apple take approx 30% of the revenue. We then split the remainder 70% to the owner and we keep 30% (after VAT) :)

Check with your accountant about the setup of the sales, you probably do not need to charge VAT for customers outside Europe as it is a consumer tax and not a business tax :2 cents:

I don't get it - do users download your app, and then select what content to show?
or do you make a new app for each webmaster doing this?

also aren't apple quite strict on content? is all non nude allowed?

This is something that content owners and paysites can use as a tool to reach people in the iTunes store that are browsing for Apps, so its a great marketing tool for companies to use to extend their brand in an entirely different marketplace. OT has gone through the hoop jumping when working with Apple to get their App, "Girls of Only Tease" (.com if you want to check it out) into the iTunes store, so they are familiar with what is compliant and acceptable in this Family Friendly venue.

we are waiting for confirmation from UK tax office on this, at present we "believe" we pay VAT on downloads from uk and eu but are waiting for HMRC to confirm
