U.S. Toyota sales halted due to faulty gas pedals... who owns one?
Wednesday, January 27, 2010
:Oh crapNEW YORK (AP) -- Toyota's suspension of U.S. sales on an unprecedented scale to fix faulty gas pedals deals a blow to the automaker's reputation for quality and came amid intense pressure from the Obama administration. Any of you guys own a Toyota or thinking about buying one? :( Also do you think that this one incident will cause irreputable damage to Toyota's image for one of the best quality built cars on the market?? http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Toyota...sset=&cc ode= :2 cents: _ |

Mid-day, unexplained loss of control into a tree. |
Drive a Toyota? LOL
I don't think so. |
I guess this were toyotas produced in the US. We all know that the quality standards in US factories aren't very high. If you want quality, always buy stuff produced overseas or produced for the overseas market.

Hmmm... defective part seems to have been manufactured in CANADA... not the U.S.

From the above article... "The suspect parts are made by a U.S. supplier, but they are also found in its European-made vehicles, an official with the automaker said Wednesday. Toyota said it hasn't decided what to do there. The supplier is CTS Corp., based in Elkhart, Ind., and the problem part was manufactured at its plant in Ontario, Canada, according to a report Toyota handed to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration last week. CTS has not replied to a request for comment sent earlier this week. Toyota's report says it first received reports in March 2007, of gas pedals being slow to come back in the Tundra pickup, and fixed the problem in February 2008. Starting in December 2008, similar problems were reported in Europe with the Aygo and Yaris models. Toyota said it lengthened a part and changed the material to fix the problem, starting in August 2009. The latest problem emerged in North America, culminating in the decision for the recall earlier this month." |
My wife owns a Toyota...50 000 KM and everything is breaking down on it !
Shitty car and even worst customer service. I make sure nobody I know buys a Toyota...and looks like they are giving me a big help ;) |
My wife has a new Camry and it has the recall for the pedal, but no the sticking throttle.

There are even car companies who produce 2 versions of a car, of the same car, one for the North American market and one for the other markets. They say in US there is no such demand for quality, so why spend so much. For example Volkswagen does it, surely others, too, but at VW I personally saw it. |
