If you wanna watch it. I hear they will publish the live stream link here. Pretty sure it will be pretty hard to view. I would imagine its pretty hardware intensive to keep hundreds or thousands of streams up for something like this.

I wish they would not have so much wasted screen space. Thats a lot of wasted screen space and takes away from the aesthetics of the device.

This will be a very good device for magazine publishers that are transitioning to digital delivery. Sports Illustrated is very close to one of them. It's on Youtube somewhere.

I would much rather get all of my magazine subscriptions in a digital interactive download format.

I was hoping that the rumors would be confirmed at this event in Re: Flash coming to the iphone etc.

Considering he's bashing Netbooks in a comparsin to it... much more than a big iPhone. I sure hope he's holding something back right now and that you can install full programs on it and even game on it, or else his Netbook comparasin is complete fallacy.

The wasted screen space is actually quite handy. Makes it easier to hold the thing.

I could deal with the fingerprints. Give me the screen space all the way to the edge and let me worry about how to hold it.

You cant have it to the edge with a touch device. it would register inputs as you are holding it!

From what may have been describing as a revolutionary product with such anticipation, I would have liked to see a more blended iPhone/OSX SL OS... something that does more than just be a big iPhone with no flash still.
For the cost of this thing, he might as well have just put in phone support to give it a further one-up on other e-readers/tablets coming to the market and give it a potential video conferencing ability.

Perhaps I read too much into the rumors the past month or so, but this didn't have any of Apple's previous wow-factor conferences.

The netbook comparasin was a bad choice IMO. I get where he's getting at in terms of just email and web browsing, but they are quite capable of more. I'll be interested to see the full technical specs re: processor, ram, etc, to see how bad a choice he made.

I'll put it to you like this... my Netbook HP Mini 311 is the best MiniMacBook Air I've ever bought at a fraction of the cost of a real Macbook Air. Yes, I hackintoshed it, put in 3GB ram and a 80GB SSD and it works beautifully. And yes, my SL OS is a purchased copy.

EDIT: I'll be optimistic though and grant him the full conference time and then some to give me more hope. Either way, its not something I'm interested in right now from what I've seen.

Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook just took a shit in their pants.

This is big money for them. Emerging market, people are just starting to get on the stick.

The interface and experience kills all ereaders out there IMHO.

Amazon has spent a shitload of money training and introducing people.

Because it'll take a long, long time before HTML5 replaces Flash.
