iSlate, iPad, Macbook Touch? State of the Apple Address 10am PST (Stream)
If you wanna watch it. I hear they will publish the live stream link here. Pretty sure it will be pretty hard to view. I would imagine its pretty hardware intensive to keep hundreds or thousands of streams up for something like this.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/27/l...reation-event/ I'm gonna guess MacBook Touch. But people are saying iPad too. It appears no one cares about the announcement though. http://www.google.com/trends/hottren...t=more-results LOL. |

I wish they would not have so much wasted screen space. Thats a lot of wasted screen space and takes away from the aesthetics of the device.
This will be a very good device for magazine publishers that are transitioning to digital delivery. Sports Illustrated is very close to one of them. It's on Youtube somewhere. I would much rather get all of my magazine subscriptions in a digital interactive download format. |

Yah Mickey, TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE waste of screen space.
and NO FLASH still! That is a massive drag. On a screen that big, it has to have Flash. |
I was hoping that the rumors would be confirmed at this event in Re: Flash coming to the iphone etc.

For the cost of this thing, he might as well have just put in phone support to give it a further one-up on other e-readers/tablets coming to the market and give it a potential video conferencing ability. Perhaps I read too much into the rumors the past month or so, but this didn't have any of Apple's previous wow-factor conferences. The netbook comparasin was a bad choice IMO. I get where he's getting at in terms of just email and web browsing, but they are quite capable of more. I'll be interested to see the full technical specs re: processor, ram, etc, to see how bad a choice he made. I'll put it to you like this... my Netbook HP Mini 311 is the best MiniMacBook Air I've ever bought at a fraction of the cost of a real Macbook Air. Yes, I hackintoshed it, put in 3GB ram and a 80GB SSD and it works beautifully. And yes, my SL OS is a purchased copy. EDIT: I'll be optimistic though and grant him the full conference time and then some to give me more hope. Either way, its not something I'm interested in right now from what I've seen. |

why pay adobe for soon to be dead technology? |
and here is your big surprise
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget....306-rm-eng.jpg http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget....308-rm-eng.jpg Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook just took a shit in their pants. This is big money for them. Emerging market, people are just starting to get on the stick. The interface and experience kills all ereaders out there IMHO. Amazon has spent a shitload of money training and introducing people. |

Hi guys and girls.
Super excited about this new iPad, can't wait to get one. We're going to be selling the domain iPadPorn.com in the next week. We've owned it since last august so there should be no trademark issues. We've created a sales thread. http://www.gfy.com/showthread.php?p=...9#post16788389 thanks |

it's got cellular data - sweet! starting a $15/month
|
11:14AM "Now what does it cost for the data plans? Well in the US carriers charge about $60 a month. We have a real breakthrough. Two awesome plans for iPad owners. The first one gives you 250MB of data a month for $14.99."
OMG is he high? Fuck I go through that in one day on my iPhone! Hahahaha http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget....369-rm-eng.jpg So, basically you have an iPhone at 160.00 a month. The iPad at 30.00 a month for data. Pushing 200.00 per month in commitment. Unlocked is good though. GSM. . |
He just killed the iPad... AT&T data plan.
AT&T is shit. |
yeah i guess it's a device that's going to burn through the bandwidth
unlimited will probably be the only feasible option yet another monthly subscription fee for the pile |

unlocked is good: all iPad 3G models are unlocked, and they use GSM micro SIMs, so if your carrier offers micro SIMs, “they’ll just work.”
especially for those of us who don't live in the us |
|
$499 is sure better starting price than most of the press expexted - so glad it didn't come out at $1k
