Re-issuing cheques?

Are companies usually good for it?

Should you expect to pay a re-issuing fee, and if so what's a fair amount for them to ask?

Thanks much

I've never had anyone charge me a fee for re-issuing a cheque, but its been awhile since I've had to ask. If they did charge a re-issue fee, I'd suppose that their normal cheque fee would be appropriate.

When a check is reissued, the original check is usually canceled, which will carry a bank fee. Whether or not the receiver of the check has to pay that fee usually depends on the circumstances of the re-issue.

For example, did the receiver lose the check or simply forget to cash it? They can expect to pay a fee.

Did the check never make it to the receiver? Fees will usually be waived.

It totally depends on what the sender thinks.

Thanks. That's what I figured.

I accidentally put 2 cheques through the wash ... I spent about 10 minutes picking out the pieces and found I think enough details on each to be able to identify them. :)

I've had one company tell me that don't reissue cheques more than 6 months old... so if you lose one behind your dresser you forfeit money you've earned. Fuck that.

Never been changed for a re-issue check.

CCBill charge for re-issues where you can't provide the original I believe.
