List of things Affiliate Progs do that make no sense & piss you off

Let's keep this thread spam-free (ha!)...

I'll start - maybe this thread will help encourage some modernizing, ethical readjustments or simply some growing up amongst some of these affiliate programs.

1.) Not answering support emails.

2.) Affiliate "support" who push you off to someone else because they can't figure out that internal communique is faster and simpler than shuffling us off to someone else. This aligns with:

3.) Affiliate "support" does not recognize that your time is valuable and as such should be respected at all times.

Keep it moving... what's your list?

mayabong 01-25-2010 05:13 PM

yeah i notice that alot about some affilaite support people, then I give them the benefit of the doubt cause i dont know how many other people they are talkin to at the same time.
Wish they were more nice sometimes.

-requiring 'approval' after signup and then taking a week to do it... when their affiliate area has nothing a surfer wants anyways.

asking someone for payout info..and them promising you they are getting it...then weeks later after asking daily for it...you find out they never even asked their boss for it

i think they must be on heroin or something

Oh yeah for sure - like how hard is it to run a spreadsheet?

If you say you're going to do something, do it - there are of course exceptions to the rule but in general the laziness seems like a job requirement.

Closing a site and just not mentioning it.

I get it, some site ideas do not work out but wtf, tell the webmasters. Especially if it is a 50 site network. Totally nuts.

Pretty much every mainstream affiliate program. They have the worst affiliate support. StubHub is one that is shit for any kind of help.

ICQ spam definitely pisses me off.

I promote solo girls... yes I watch over 200 different solo girl sites.... and this is MY NUMBER ONE PET PEEVE....

I understand your all pissed off that you have to close a site... I get that. Tell the webmasters who are sending traffic to your newly created black hole to turn off the fucking taps or at LEAST redirect it to another site so we can all move on and keep making money.

Would be nice to get a courtesy e-mail on this... :2 cents:

QFT on this one - nothing screams "screwed" as much as going through all the links you've already setup and switching them out when all it takes is a little work on their end.

1.Contact from Contact Page that send you to a guy who is not working anymore on them since months/years.
2. Email info from Contact Page who doesn`t exist
3. Rude affiliate managers who doesn`t have a clue how to fix errors
4. Traffic leaks from their tours
5. To be ignored when I ask what is it with the payment
6. Waiting for approve after joining their program 5 days - forever
7. Support guys who contact me for nothing
8. Newsletters with wrong FHGs or worst with someone else codes
9. Closing or changing links for a paysite without any announce. ("I opened a thread on a board witch nobody read it")
10. Closing a program or parking the paysites without any announcement
11. Calling me "pal" or "dude" :)

And the list is huge....

Lucky me, I met great support people from many programs :) There are too many to list them here

I hate when affiliate programs don't update for over a year then have the nerve to call you rude when you try and find out why they haven't updated their affiliate tools in over a year.

Being treated like you aren't important by affiliate managers even though your traffic performs amazingly well - I mean off the charts well. But even if it didn't, you still should treat all your affiliates like that matter.

When you make a list of problems with an affiliate program - and some very very big problems including lack of communication, no tools update for months at a time, late checks, bounced emails, etc. to a company about the company who runs their affiliate program, you get a response of something like if you do that again we'll sue you for slander from the company running the affiliate program and still nothing gets done. << that seriously happened to me once LOL

I hate with a livid passion badly written scripts that make trying to find a set of photos for a specific girl (FHGs) all but impossible. Seriously people, it's called search. If I can't SEARCH your FHG database to find a specific set I want, then I really want to smack you.

My biggest one is payment. I hate having to chase around programs for money. One program that I used to push a lot a few years ago used to fuck up my payment almost every other time. I had to constantly remind them of how many sales I had and what the amount should be.

Another one is when affiliate reps promise to get you stuff, then never deliver, the have the nerve to ask why you are not promoting them. I have the same one hit me up about once a month asking why Im not sending any traffic anymore... its because for almost a year, Im still waiting for those FLV files and FHG output that you promised :1orglaugh

But one that constantly comes up is reps that IM me about trying out their content. Fine, no problem I'm willing to try out something new, but Im not going to replace ALL the content on my network with your sites. Ive actually had two reps ask me about this and said "i thougth you were going to use our content?" Really? Sure, let me risk my revenue by switching to somehting that I dont know if it will convert

I hate this, especially when I am doing work and need content NOW. Its not like they are giving full access to their sites, but just absurd.

SmokeyTheBear 01-26-2010 11:38 PM

"latest news" in affil area that is over 1 year old

broken tools nobody fixes

"approval" accounts that give a specific time like "within 48 hours" that don't happen
