BUSH'S RACE TO WAR PUTS WORLD AT RISK

THE day has been marked in President Bush's diary. January 27, 2003. The date when he will decide on war against Iraq.

But no one really believes that a big decision will be taken in the White House on that day. The die was cast long ago.

Mr Bush and the warmongers in his cabinet want a war against Saddam Hussein. They say they must stop him because he has weapons of mass destruction.

But only one leader has weapons of mass destruction and plans to use them. His name is George W Bush and it is he who must be stopped.

What he plans to do against Iraq will not save lives or make peace. It will destabilise the world and threaten thousands, possibly millions.

President Bush is determined to go to war to demonstrate to the United States' rednecks that he is committed to the war on terrorism launched after 9/11.

Yesterday the Americans declared that Iraq is in "material breach" - the key words - of United Nations resolutions.

Not even the British government went that far. Though Jack Straw came close to it and will doubtless take the short step to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Mr Bush.

But they must be stopped. Before this mad, dangerous war is begun. The cost in human life could be enormous. It would far outweigh the current threat from Saddam.

It is true that weapons of mass destruction should not be allowed in the wrong hands.

But they are. They are in President Bush's. That is the greatest threat facing the world.

That is a 'red top'. There are many broadsheet papers but that is a tabloid (kind of like new york post). It is for third grade reading levels. However, with that said it is called freedom of the press...and people are scared. A couple weeks ago they were talking about the evils of Saddam. It evens out.

Report: Nuclear weapons policy review names potential targets

countries as possible targets for nuclear attacks in a military contingency plan, according to a report provided to Congress in January, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

The US is going in for one reason only - to steal Iraqi oil.

Iraq has the second-largest oil reserves in the world after Saudi Arabia.

I'm all for it. I say "Let's kick their ass and take their gas".

The only thing I am worried about is that other industrialized nations also need oil and they might not take a liking to the US monopolizing these huge reserves. So the invasion of Iraq could very well catalyze a major world conflict. But I digress.

All I'm saying is that throughout history there is always an empire and that empire can do whatever it damn well pleases. That's a historical fact.

In the 21st century America is THE empire. This our time in history and we can damn well do whatever we please. It's time that we in the US just stood up and said as much. Enough with all this diplomatic bullshit and going through the UN. If we need to invade Iraq we should just do it. If we need to use tactical nukes on the battlefield to ensure a quick victory - we should do that too. The 21st Century is the American century and thank God for that. Sure we sometimes act like the 800lb gorilla in the room. But if some other country was in charge, the results would be far worse.

At most, 10,000 or so civies would die in an invasion of Iraq. I am confident we would contain any further causalties. If some other country was handling this invasion, they would probably end up killing hundreds of thousands by not using tactical nukes and instread trying to go in there with conventional arms and house to house fighting.

Xmas is just another day for me. My mom is steeped in the tradition so I bought a tree and put it up and of course bought some presents for her. My mom and I will be home for Xmas, but the rest of the family will be stopping in during the day, dropping off presents and visiting for awhile. The big gathering will be at my brother's house but just like Thanksgiving my mom prefers to stay at home. No I did not think of anything special for myself. Enjoy yourself with your family. :)

The newspaper in question may be a comic and only read by semi-illiterates with a lower than average IQ, but then it's also the 2nd biggest seller in the UK last I looked, and many do have a lower than average IQ taking it's words as gospel.
