15 Books Every Entrepreneur Should Read

Charlie O'Donnell: "I don't know any book that sums up the entrepreneurial passion and spirit better than The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand: 'The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.'"

Every one should learn - "Money can be used to buy products and services."

1200mics 01-24-2010 05:12 PM

#1 The life of Hugh Hefner ;)

I've read 4 of the books out of their list. Of those 4, there are 2 that I can't really see what they're doing there at all.

tony286 01-24-2010 05:26 PM

Some good ones there. Ayn Rand doesnt do it for me personally.

Hazlewood 01-24-2010 05:58 PM

Rich Dad Poor Dad should be on that list. Try it out. A great read.

None of the people who made it big made it by reading books. Books are like penis enlargement pills - they sell a dream. If you're a failure in life incapable of achieving big things, reading failed books will not turn your life around and make it successful. It'll keep you dreaming, though. Carry on and read the books, if your life's goal is to be a dreamer forever.

Yes, books are for chumps. Education is for the weak.

People get so caught up in reading the next great book that they never apply the principles that they learned in the prior book. I was reading a fair amount for a while there, then I stopped. Too many things to implement to be running around to reading the next great thing.

No mention of The Holy Bible. :-(

Never read it, and it may contain some great advice, but can't buy into the conecpt behind it. Just from personal experience children who come from money seem to be the least responsible when it comes to managing finances.

Maybe "rich dads" do pass on golden nuggets of wisdom, it just tends to fall on deaf ears.

Word.

I used to read those kinds of book veraciously, and the more I investigated the back story on most of the people selling business books on "how to make it big" the more I've come to find out that they've acquired their wealth through dirty dealings, and good 'ol fashioned political interference. The old saying "Behind Every Great Fortune There Is an Even Greater Crime" has never rang truer. These people are no smarter than the rest, just more criminal, and manipulative. :2 cents:

Give the book a chance
His "rich dad" made him learn things the hard way... it's rumored that the whole thing is made up, but alot of things ol' KiKi says are very insightful

His books are more about realizing a bigger picture and changing your way of thinking than getting specific advice on business/accounting law... but yea, you are right, I certainly wouldn't take what he says too seriously...

Apparently, the first version of rich dad poor dad did very badly. It was a stroke of luck that an AMWAY big referrer guy found it in a laundry hamper... the rest is history....

LiveDose 01-25-2010 03:35 PM

I've read my fair share of business books but none on that list.

Bill8 01-25-2010 04:24 PM

You guys do know that rich dad poor dad is fake right?

It's a classic bizop scam.

Not saying a person might not get some ideas from it, but as a piece of writing it's fiction created to sell to the biz-op market, right out of the biz-op manual.

Google is your friend when it comes to bizop scams.

_Richard_ 01-25-2010 04:47 PM

wootz three books already down

slapass 01-25-2010 06:14 PM

Drinkinghard loved the Rich Dad series and has done very well. Maybe not just because of the book but he does credit it with helping.

Anything that gets you motivated is a good thing. "We all have tons of good ideas what we lack is implementation." I am paraphrasing someone from this board. Don't remember who but it is a great thought.

TyroneGoldberg 01-25-2010 07:20 PM

i would say the prince those other books are doo-doo, shit, crap, bullshit.

all you need is

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion

and other one which will be nameless

It held up for quite a while before Rand garbled and regurgitated it too...

designerscode 01-26-2010 05:10 PM
