Will Ferrell plays Skynyrd "Free as a Bird" on last Conan show

This is fucking great.

Watched last night and that was very cool :thumbsup

I also liked when Conan sincerely said He was grateful to NBC for all they have done for him over the years. How happy he was to have had the opportunity to do all that he has done and how he's looking forward to whatever the future holds for him. He also gave thanks to his fans and the staff that helped make him what he became.

His statement came from the heart and although he may be disappointed with the way things turned out he understands why, holds no ill feelings and is grateful for what he's had.

In other words, he took it like a man.

You can tell in his speech at the start of this video he is almost in tears. He should thank NBC. They made him into a multimillionaire.

It wasn't about quality it was about having fun and they did.

On a side note, my first concert was Lynyrd Skynyrd and Atlanta Rhythm Section at the Miami Jai-Alai Fronton in 1976 and it's still one of my favorites.:thumbsup

To be honest, I had to shut it off a couple minutes into it.

CaptainHowdy 01-23-2010 12:27 PM

Embarrasing yet profitable...

for sure. i enjoyed the entire show. and everyone knows that young and skynyrd have sort of had a rivalry for many years, taking pokes at each in songs, etc. i don't think everyone caught on to the humor in that :)

dyna mo 01-23-2010 12:41 PM

i wouldn't of recognized neil young if i was sittin next to him at the bar

FreeHugeMovies 01-23-2010 01:15 PM

Could of used Will in much better skit.

billywatson 01-23-2010 01:17 PM

How bout Beck on guitar looking like a Medieval pauper?

Or ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons on lead?

cherrylula 01-23-2010 01:58 PM

Conan was also on lead :thumbsup

Nookster 01-23-2010 02:04 PM

Yea it was awesome Danny...err I mean Supz. I think he did an okay job actually. Conan was sharing the lead guitar also...he was good. A lot of people don't know but Conan is a pretty good guitarist. Beck kinda looked confused for most of the tune, was pretty funny. Good way to end the show though. :thumbsup

Oh I did...but I'm sure most did not. I've been a Skynyrd fan for most my life. Seen them live many times.

Maybe having Young on and doing a Skynyrd song was Conan's subtle way of saying let's put are differences ( NBC ) aside and play one great show.

It should also be noted that Will Ferrell was Conan's very first guest on the Tonight show so he let him close the show as well.

Who cares if it didn't sound great. It never was supposed to or they would've got a better lead singer. It was Conan ending the show's run jamming with his friends and music idols playing what is probably one of his favorite songs.

completely agree.

I loved it. Will's a comedian, not a singer. It was a great end to Conan's Tonight Show.
