*Adapt Or Die* Teach me adult website building 101

O.K. Obviously as time goes on business changes. This is ESPECIALLY true in the adult internet area. It has been really a good decade since I have actively tried to build a new adult website. A few half ass attempts here and there but no real efforts put into it for quite some time.

I plan on putting in 2-3 hours per day, 7 days a week, for the next 3 months and see what happens. I would devote a little more time but

A) I don't want to burn out again
B) I want it to be fun .. and an equal balance of grunt work and research
C) I need some resemblance of a real life and already work 10 hour days

So ... What I find most intriguing are sites like vidz.com. Mostly because of the quality of their videos, the mix of tube site and pay per minute business models, and their very high payout percentages. Really, 80 % ? Kudos Guys - although I need to read the fine print :pimp

I am interested in any input anyone has on marketing sites like these as well vidz.com's competition so I could run an analytical campaign that is properly managed so the visitors I generate to my website(s) make me as much $$ as possible

Do people still use typical free site layouts ? I am really looking for a crash course on the business model for a free site nowadays. I never was really good at building them when I was in this business - rather I excelled at making pay sites and building relationships with affiliates.

So yep, a total tool ... Total newbie ... Asking for help on the wrong board my guess lol - Can someone point me in the right direction ? I am looking to research and read as many different points of view as possible. My first focus will be on pushing vidz.com through a couple of old tranny domains I have like meetashemale.com (or meetatransexual.com can't even remember which) and transexaul.com (typo domain)

Over / Under on "Go Fuck Yourself Noob"'s ?

Besides vidz.com I am going to push some sex toys on the web site yourfantasy.com which I decided to keep anyways :thumbsup Todd you can bet your ass wishing.com is the only program I will use for now, period.

One last thing, can you run cheap campaigns for adult keywords on google ? I can't remember if they were anti-adult or not.

outsource that designwork to the phillipines like everyone else. they have skills and do great artwork in my opinion. either that or use 'composer' and build some 90's looking shit that nobody will take serious.

My two cents, Blog it up!

Build three or four sites , start a program, and get a bunch of "bros" to back you. Then close it down with a lame excuse and keep the resdiual traffic. That seems to be the norm the past few months.

Sounds pretty weak - I don't know the exact figures but I would venture a guess at having paid out webmasters around 5 million in my life. Would never pull some shit like that. Who knows maybe I'll end up with another site taking off and get back there - has to be something I enjoy though and I really don't see adult being that unless I have workers handling everything for me .. in other words - not going to happen :2 cents:

You're not going to get much "real" advice here.

Like you said, this is a business. Businesses don't give advice or offer incite to their competition.

You might find some help elsewhere, but GFY probably won't be your best resource if you're green.

Yeah - I thought at worst maybe someone could recomend me to the best place for noobs in the adut business nowadays. I think Green Guy & Jims was it last time I was around, but I haven't searched for it yet. There was also another site that was great for newbies. It had tons of articles written by people with yearsof experience in the business, online workshops, and all sorts of other interesting stuff. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it though :(

Hell I don't even know what free sites look like now, every time I surf ALL I run into are either link farms or Tube sites it seems .. Paysite Review sites are out there as well, classics like Rabbit's Reviews etc ..

Good luck chief.

Any good advice, or coaching, or hands on help with real stats... you are going to get in 2010 online you are going to have PAY for. Few people are going to give you a road map, or blue print for free.

WarChild 01-23-2010 02:19 PM

To quote Nirvana "A little group it's always been and always will until the end.".

Just get a job.

GFY has very much changed since 2007. Or 2004. Beware of the Trolls. Just do what you do. Seems like you have a clue, continue to research and you will do well. Especially since this Biz is STILL inundated with laziness. Even more so now. Work smarter and harder, don't be here all of the time and you can succeed. It takes much longer now, but still possible.

Good advice .. I was just hoping to read some articles or something on the business like there was in mid 2000's to give me a refresher .. save me hours and hours of trial and error - and time is the one thing I lack

A couple tips - take 'em with a grain of salt.

Try using Wordpress. You don't have to make a "blog". Its very versatile, and there's lots of help available.

Don't fill your site with videos. Don't promote sites with lots of free videos on the tour. Don't (initially) promote sites that everyone is already aware of.

Search your niche's keywords. If your results return sites that have 29 minute videos, chose another niche.

Narrowcast. Pick a niche you have a clue about. Focus, drill down to a sub-niche. You can broaden your horizons later.

If you're only working three hours a day, don't spend any of them here.

Your initial goal should be to avoid competition. You do not want to go head-to-head with anyone when starting out.

Best post here. I agree with everything said. :2 cents:
