Have sony laptop with dead battery, sony doesn't sell the battery any more

What the hell do you do? I don't want to buy another whole laptop. Are there generics sold that work? I can't believe less than 2 years later and sony doesn't even make the batteries anymore..

RandomNinja 01-22-2010 12:10 PM

are there any on ebay?

Got Porn? 01-22-2010 12:12 PM

Look on ebay, I bought a new battery for an old Gateway for about $30 and it worked great.

Tom_PM 01-22-2010 12:12 PM

Try batteries dot com? You're right, there should be generics. I think you should just punch the make and model and you'll find something.

BlackCrayon 01-22-2010 01:23 PM

i found some on ebay but they all seem to be coming from china or hong kong. not sure how much i trust that.

I've bought them from China and they worked fine.

TisMe 01-22-2010 01:34 PM

Try Amazon as well as Ebay, I've found batteries for older laptops on both.

The battery I bought was from China, just be sure to buy on from a seller who has been around for a while with a good rating. :2 cents:

If you can't find any on Ebay, see if you can pull the case off the battery. They usually have smaller cells inside kind of like watch batteries and most times you can just replace those.

DateDoc 01-22-2010 01:43 PM

See if http://www.provantage.com/ has it. I have bought two batteries for a sony from them.

mu old Sony goes through a battery/year. Will never buy one of their pcs again. To contact Sony - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/contact-land.pl

Ayla_SquareTurtle 01-22-2010 02:04 PM

You can have them re-filled http://www.batteryrefill.com/

Can't vouch for that site personally though. I would do some research because I know one of the companies that does this has a lot of customer service issues.

CPimp 01-22-2010 02:08 PM

All the batteries I ever bought off Ebay were from China or Hong Kong, the only suggestion I have is check their feedbacks. If the seller has a lot of complaints about their batteries then don't buy from them. Also don't pay attention tot he brand name. They're counterfeiting the magic gate memory cards, memory stick pro duo cards and everything, but they all work fine.

buyandsell 01-22-2010 02:15 PM

nothing wrong with china batteries from Ebay man

where do you think the batteries sony puts in their machines come from?

JP-pornshooter 01-22-2010 02:20 PM

google duracell
they make and sell batteries for all type of stuff and gear
i got all my after market camera batteries from them, better than the original.

fatfoo 01-22-2010 02:23 PM

Dead batteries - that sucks.

vending_machine 01-22-2010 02:28 PM

You work on the internet and can't figure out how to buy a laptop battery from someone other than the original vendor?

I kid you... :)
