make your own sushi kit?

i bought a "make your own sushi" kit- and i definitely made some of the ugliest and unsymmetrical pieces of sushi ever made. has anyone else ever tried to do this? the box made it look so easy!!!

this was what happened!

Hey, your header is now in rotation at pornless.com :-)

I've never used a sushi-kit. I've made sushi though.
Just fresh fish, sushi-rice with vinegar and nori, or californiarolls with shrimp and avocado.

This is a set I did a few years back.

Nothing spectacular, but if it tastes good, who cares?

I married a Japanese woman for her a) jiggy skills b) cooking skills

The rest is a bonus.

I make sushi all the time, no kit though.

I guess you either got it or you don't. My 70 year old Russian aunt can make sushi like nobody's business.

Sushi is one of those foods that I find visually pleasing, but it is flat out nasty to eat.

Primitive man was happy when he discovered fire and learned how to cook his food. We should honor his discovery. :)

my superior joint rolling skills of my youth mean I make a mean sushi.

Cheap sushi is flat out nasty, good sushi isnt. Try a few different places and you might be surprised what you like.

In my experience most supermarket sushi is not good, they seem to make the rice too thick... I guess its cheaper.

I'd seriously pay for that... no joke, i tried once and realized it wasn't a project worth pursuing.

LeRoy 01-20-2010 12:56 PM

I used to not like it

but now working in a Japanese co. I'm eating it.

Give me a taco :thumbsup

BillyHoe 01-20-2010 01:29 PM

I'm taking a course soon on how to make sushi. Just need to find the time. However I have a feeling I'll try making it once and then just go back to the restaurant. Getting the good quality fish, and the labor involved will probably out weigh the novelty of making it..lol

I'm very open to trying new foods and have gone to a handful of sushi places. there are a few things that I like, but mot of them are cooked. To me all the raw stuff has a similar flavor, but mostly my problem is the consistency of it. Something about how it feels when you bite into makes me gag.
