Rock Club Website I Designed - Thoughts?
 

I designed and coded this ... kinda like it ...

What you think? Any suggestions to rock it up? :) hehe

I do web design too btw ... I just don't generally advertise that in adult as mainstream is more lucrative for the time/money ...

I'm not against doing designs tho.

It's a club in the UK that we frequent. I do the site for free and they let me in free and I get free drinks all night :) Perrie occassionally does photo work down there ... she gets the same perks. We skip queues etc ...

I'm in a band and I've played the Agincourt Stage ... supported Skindred... who rock!

TERRIBLE demo quality ... but check out www.myspace.com/spiritofthestate and listen to Best I Could and Fight For You ... they're my favorites. My brother sings on these demos. I wrote and recorded all the music.

Put the full names of the bands, no? The Rolling Stones, not the Rolling Stones. The Levellers, not Levellers. Etc.

Learn how apostrophes work mate. (All over the place, inc the title tag (where you also have Uk, not UK)):

DJs, not DJ's. Photos, not photo's. Valentine's atmosphere, not Valentines atmosphere. Over 18s, not over 18's. Door staff, not door staff's.

You put them where they shouldn't be and don't put them where they should be!

If you wanted people just to post saying you are brilliant rather than point out the multitude of mistakes on your site you should have said from the get go. Would have saved a lot of time.

Sorry you interpret me taking 10 minutes out of my day to try and help make your site look less like a 14 year old wrote the copy on it as rude.

I'm quite obviously not talking about the help post. That was fine. But that's in the 10% of posts that are fine. Your response to me was typical of what you've been like recently in a lot of your posts. It's like you throw in a dig for the sake of it.

Dude ... just stop throwing your unique brand of sarcasm around so much is all. It doesn't work. This is a forum. If you're using that in real life and it's working, it must be in the tone of your voice. Because here it's just the opposite of amusing.

the "feel" of the site is good but you could change the text errors for your client as well.

not enough graphics to be called 'design' and too much of text even for web 2.0 look and feel. Who cares tho, if the client is happy.

Always interesting how many people think the surfer wants over-developed graphics, slow loading times and interaction just for the sake of having it. *hint* go look at just about every mega-high traffic site. There's a reason most are so basic in graphical design.

It's also amazing how many people think that one style of design fits all. If you're pushing membership to an image / video based subscription, it should be represented in the ad. ("The Ad" = the outer site). For a "rock club", radio station, band, etc. this also applies. (of course, there are many ways to accomplish that, but that's another topic).

A minimalistic graphics approach works for Amazon & Google, because they aren't selling images / video as the entire reason for their existence, nor are they selling an overall "image", (feel), like a rock club would be.

Different product, different approach, different design.

An Apple Store probably wouldn't go over if it was designed to look like a log cabin.

Gah ... sorry ... every site is different for different reasons. Yes, this is not THE most intense design ever. I could spend more than one evening on it ... sure. But one evening... I was just quite pleased for that amount of time. One reason I think a LOT of adult design looks horrible is because 90% of them seem to follow the same horrible design standards and all look soooo out of date. Even some of the bigger players in the adult design world do it. I am not mentioning names ... and even if I did, they do it because they are used to doing it as it makes money for them. So fair enough. If I did that kind of design for the Agincourt they'd laugh at it. Instead, they love this design.

Anyways ... yah ... everyone's different and every type of site aims at different people so you're spot on there. :)
