A bad design is a bad design no matter who made it. This one is better then the last one, but it's still BAD.

If you keep working on your design skills you'll look back on these two designs next year and say "Damn that shit sucked" Just keep at it and eventually you will get better.

Sorry to get off subject. Lsten keep developing sites, I taught my wife how to design and she even has a bachelors in art. She's scared of the computer. It all takes practice. I designed over 30 major label album covers. And I still have problem's transfering them to the web. I designed this webfront http://www.Meetmelissa.com. It's ok but it kicked my ass. Because I was thinking paper, not internet. It has no blend or smoothness.

But one thing I can say I promote so many sites like yours and have made more money on the amateur stuff than what I have on the progalleries. Keep up the good work you'll get it soon. And as far as going to school taking Photoshop classes. That's for sissy's, I dropped out of college I'm 31 and retired. Someone told me I wouldn't be nothing, So I married his daughter and started a graphics design company. Later on I brought his car dealership from him (his Dream) to help him get back on his feet. I sold it for next to nothing two weeks later. Know who's nothing!!:pimp So all the pussies who talk shit on you look at there sites and what they own and make them your bitch. If you were some fly by spammer saying he is available for designs and showed what you showed he wouldve been bashed completely.

Its terrible! the colors, the fonts, the pictures, basically everything on that page.
You can have that tour up, send 100k traffic to it and not get 1 signup.

Start practising ALOT or find another part of internet which you like.

To be as polite and honest as I can... The example you gave above as well as your first few examples are not marketable as a webdesigner for hire. Sure the day to day kick ass designs don't always sell best but the examples you provide are seriously lacking of basic composition and up to date design techniques.

Not that what you are doing is evil but I think honsetly if you look around at most business oriented web sites or even those that are just for fun you will see that your "examples" are not up to par.

hmm i had to think about that one for a second or four...

nobody is trying to beat anyone up, it just looks like shit, looks like a staircase of pixels, download EYECANDY for photoshop and use the "emboss" feature on default settings, it will clear up all the jagged staircases. I wouldnt care if it was one of Lensman's sites. If it sucks, it must be a vacuum cleaner... errr n/m lost train of thought... It looks liek you have a nasty compression going on too. Also, try using more contrasting colors. If people actualy do stick their head in their ass once they find otu who's it is, it just goes to show that it's not how good you are in this place, it's who you suck up to.

same goes with my galleries, every "new and improved layout" sucks a week later, hell, i designed a new one last nite by hand with photshop and slices and shit, today, i think it sucks. design skills will always mature with more time and practice.

just a thought, if you come into a gateway for webmasters with design experience asking for approval for your work, then when you get negative feedback, well, thats exactly what you asked for. Even negative feedback is good feedback. Once I started listening to negative remarks about any project I've worked on, the projects got better. The first few personal websites ive built were horrible, but I wouldnt accept negativity from my peers and it got me nowhere. I finaly clued in that bad feedback is a way of helping me. Someone tells me putting a certain colored button in a certain spot sucks, i ask why, they tell me, i make the changes, step back, realize why they thought it sucked, and go ahead and continue the change and get inspired to "Add" to the change. Afterwhich It looks 100 times better than what the person told me i should do.

So kiddies, the moral of the storry is "if you really want an opinion, accept them, and use them to yoru advantage" or some bullshit liek that :thumbsup

FT: seriously, if you plan to make that kind of splash for your own use, and maybe they work (who knows?), then it's OK. From a design pov, it's simply awful, it's not like people trying to bashing you or something lik that (even when this board consists mainly on it :winkwink: ), it simply doesn't look nice, or interesting or anything. Like someone else said, keep working and some months from now you'll look back and realize what are we trying to say :)
