6.5-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Northern California
 

Hope everyone is ok!

They have had a couple smaller one's the last couple of days. Nothing mentioned on Facebook, guess that means it has knocked out communication.

Hi Loreen, hoping your well. Lots of quakes hit around the tropics nearly every day, obviously some are only 3 or 4. There was a 7.2 on the 3rd of January in the solomon islands.

Not to much to worry about, hopefully.

Wow, I just got a call from my cousin in Ferndale and they where rocked!

Saw breaking news on NBC and FOX, also lots of mentions on Twitter.

It had a depth of only 15km so it was felt pretty strong.

"Ferndale police tell Fox News they saw some superficial damage to the city hall building, and some telephone lines were disconnected, but no major damage or injuries were immediately reported."

Are they evactuating.. My mom lives in Fortuna and she heard they were getting evacuated but you know how rumors fly. Wonder if I know your cous...

Ferndale was close to the epicenter from what I am hearing.

yeah cali has had over 380 in the last week. Very common. Just been since 94 I think since big one like that hit it. My mom called me and was a little freaked out.

Reminds me of that movie with the earthquake that came out recently...

In that movie, the President called some of the Americans fags, before the ground fell into water and they all drowned.

My cousin wouldn't know if they where evacuating or not, he is stoned 24/7. I don't think he has left his house in a couple years so I doubt you know him. :stoned

Not necessarily. Smaller ones can induce more pressure, too.

Read somewhere that the sea lions have disappeared from SF and some think it could be connected to a big one coming :2 cents:

I think it was because of the food.

And now - a major magnitude 7.3 quake hit just 9 miles off the coast of the impoverished country of Haiti

They came to Pier 39 shortly after the '89 earthquake.. interesting though.. i bet they r saying food so no one freaks out..

"Everybody is just totally, totally freaked out and shaken," said Henry Bahn, a visiting official with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. "The sky is just gray with dust."

Bahn said he was walking to his hotel room when the ground began to shake.

"I just held on and bounced across the wall," he said. "I just hear a tremendous amount of noise and shouting and screaming in the distance."

Bahn said there were rocks strewn all over the place and he saw a ravine where several homes had been built. "It's just full of collapsed walls and rubble and barbed wire," he said.
