First confrontation for new ship
Wednesday's confrontation with whalers marked the first for the 1,200-ton Bob Barker, which rescued the crew. Sea Shepherd only recently bought the ship after its namesake, the former host of the "The Price Is Right" game show and a longtime animal rights activist, donated the money. Barker met Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson through a fellow activist and said he was instantly impressed.

"He said he thought he could put the Japanese whaling fleet out of business if he had $5 million," Barker recalled. "I said, 'I think you do have the skills to do that, and I have $5 million, so let's get it on,' so that's what we did."

Barker, 86, said he was "genuinely proud" to be associated with Sea Shepherd.

Such a shame that badass boat was torn up because some jerkoffs want to play world police. I'm sure all the sealife enjoyed sucking in bio-diesel fuel because these clowns wanted to get in the way of a bigger ship.

I don't always approve of some of their tactics, but I do support many of the goals of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

Andy Gil... another idiot who donated money. He donated the money for that boat, which they then rammed into the side of much bigger ship made of steel.... morons. those millions were wasted in a matter of minutes.

The whale war people are morons. Just a bunch of hippies with a cause. Thinking they can go take a couple months of their life to "try to make a difference" saving the whales. So they can come home and feel all good about themselves because they spent a couple months throwing stink bombs at a bunch of japs who work on a ship that cuts up whales.... not like the ship probably doesn't stink anyway.

The "lifers", the few who do this fulltime are a bunch of losers who don't want to deal with the real world. They feel all big and important in their little bubble as saviors, living off of donations of idiots, being idolized by other like idiots, while actually believing that they are doing good. I would love to see them get a real job and work for a living.

Money wasted: millions
Mater of time till they wreck their ship or one of the japs and people die: sooner than later.
