Is banner traffic really better than skim?
For about $ 5.00 you get 1000 clicks from skim...(in a unique niche, not general tube traffic skim)
VS. .02 a click from banner (the cheapest we've found) = about 250 banner clicks for $ 5.00 (USA-CAN-AUS) So, is it better to have 250 clicks from a banner, VS. 1000 blind skim clicks?? Thanks for your input! |
Try it out and show us your results :)

I'm thinking the banner is best cause the consumer is selecting what he wants to see.... but, you get 4 times as many clicks with skim. Some people don't even read anymore, and if you "shove" the product in their face(skim traffic), like a tv commercial, they might be interested in buying..... ?

It all depends on what you are buying for and what the landing page you are sending the traffic too.. I buy both banner spots and skimmed traffic for different sites we own. If the page you have them go to is a video, then skimmed traffic is really good off of a tube site since that is what the surfer was looking for. If you are advertising a membership site or a dating site you want it to be more targeted traffic you get from a banner. If you are buy on a PPC basis, it really doesn't matter what you banner looks like, brand the hell out of your company. CPM basis you want you banner very clicky.
Just my .02 a click worth |
Banner clicks are better. When you get skim clicks, they can come from anywhere for no apparent reason. CTR doesn't matter because they clicked blindly. They may have been looking for Amateur but landed on your granny site. They didn't know where they were going until they landed.
True banner clicks are better because they saw something they were interested in and clicked it. Hence the higher price per click. A big difference on the quality of the clicks. |
I think banner is better, I tried some skim traffic in December and was not thrilled with the results. Also according to google analytics traffic was coming from places that I doubt they would pay for porn...or even have a credit card.

But there is nothing wrong with either traffic as it both gets visitors to your product, but pay close attention to where the skimmed traffic is coming from. Skim from a tranny site might not do so well with soft core twins... but then again ya never know |
I would take a banner over skimmed but I would take a descriptive text link over a banner. :thumbsup

I'd go with banner

It all depends on why you want the traffic, and to what type of site.
If you're sending to a paysite, definitely go with the banner clicks; you can tightly target the surfer you want. Generally speaking, skimmed traffic is shit for making sales on a paysite. But, if you're sending to a tube video, you'll get much better performaance from skimmed, as your getting 4 times the traffic. So, the answer: It depends. |
target and none target traffic, what do you think?

textlinks 4 lyfe

Skim traffic is no where near as good as letting the person select what they want..
when you went to buy a car, would you have been happy with selecting a SUV and getting a 2 door station wagon? |
