So I bought the PS3 and a couple games...
 

I got Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and NHL 10. I haven't owned a game console since Nintendo and I can believe how hard these games are hahaha. In Vegas 2 I get murked pretty much right away... Such a NOOB.

FPS games are horrible on PS3. Just can't get same control as a PC mouse.

If you want a good experience, get Batman: Arkham Asylum or Uncharted 1 or 2. Dead Space is awesome also.

My son got a ps3 And Modern Warfare 2 from Santa,,Ive been fighting him to play it ever since LOL! Well he got a buncha other games too, but were addicted to this one!

I tried Modern Warfare 2 out the other day, but found it had two big negatives:

- No local multiplayer campaigns
- You cannot play online with two local players

The second one especially sucks, if you have a friend over, aside from some Spec Op missions, all you can do locally is play one on one which gets boring really fast.

pffft, all those games suck. get Grand Theft Auto and you will thank me :winkwink:

A PC mouse isn't any better than a console controller ... I was a PC gamer for years and dismissed the console games.... but in fact, the console gives you much more immediate control. More at your fingers, and can you walk at any varied speed on the keyboard? No.

So I disagree :) Console shooters are also designed for the pad. So they feel perfectly good. Especially Modern Warfare. I have a Wii, Xbox360 and a PS3.... and the PS3 is by FAR my favorite console of the three ... with the Wii coming in second! :)

I'm no gamer but I'm pretty sure I can pick this up and have the same experience as a console in terms of level of control.

Yes ... but PC games aren't balanced for console style controllers generally so the play is slightly different (unless the company making the game sucks ass and doesn't understand balancing one system to another)

I'm mostly talking about using the thumb as an aiming tool. It's not possible for the thumb to make the fast micro adjustments necessary to get quick accurate shots.

I've been an FPS PC gamer for a long time, and any that I've played on the PS3 have been agonizing. I've given it more than enough time and actually played quite a few, because maybe they weren't available on the PC.

There is a huge difference in aiming ability. The travel distance of the analog stick requires the thumb to be able to teeter on top of the stick in ways that just can't match an arm controlling a mouse.

That said, third person games are the best on console, and I wouldn't want to play it any other way.

Ah but as I said ... console games are balanced differently .... I was the same as you once :) I now enjoy games on all systems as I have a PC, a PS3, an Xbox360 and a Wii :)

And I have played many an FPS on all three consoles :)

I still haven't figured out the PS2 so go figure...

i still play "super mario world" and "contra III" on SuperNintendo.. & "turrican2" and "It came from the Desert" on AMIGA500.. never bought one of those friggin' space-age consoles.

I enjoy playing both Killzone 2, wet, gran t5, & Haze on my PS3

The graphics on bayonetta are fantastic. I recommend this game! :thumbsup

If you have a PS3 then you need to be picking up your car keys now (NOW I SAID!) and get straight down to the local store and buy DJ Hero complete with the turntable. It's absolutely awesome and incredibly addictive. The tutorials are very simple to follow and in no time you will be DJing like a pro. Highly recommended! :thumbsup

i picked up a ps3 recently and was disappointed when my ps2 games would not work with it. I was lead to believe that i could play ps2 games on the ps3.

GTA 4 was pretty good on PS3 and should be cheap now :). MW2 is cool but hard in multi player, common to lose like a noob in the first few days.
Bad Company was also a very good FPS with bigger maps than in MW2 and lots of nice vehicles.

now you just need to buy the xbox 360 and sign up to live and you are ready:)

Having a hard time getting my wireless connection working. I had it working for about 5 minutes then it gave up on me. Now I can't obtain an IP.

I have Rainbow6 too - am learning my lesson that strategy type FPS games are ok on a PS3, but the hardcore ones are best left to the PC.

I have MW2, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 and FIFA 10 for ps3 all are great games, I also need to buy tekken 6 and the new GT5 that will be out next month :)

They only made the first and second gen PS3's backwards compatible - up to the 80gig if I remember correctly.

I have heard they are working on a software solution to make the ps3 compatible, but knowing sony, its gonna be $60

I'll add everybody once I figure out how to set up my wireless. Some conflict with my router and my laptop.

I don´t want to get into that world or I´ll never be able to get out...

Not sure how the newer units are, but my original PS3 unit has AWFUL wireless reception. Even with the router in the next room.

No Need ... Windows Vista and 7 both allow the PS3 to easily stream from PC to TV :) And the PS3 has the DivX codec in as standard, so can play back DivX or Xvid files :)
