I got Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and NHL 10. I haven't owned a game console since Nintendo and I can believe how hard these games are hahaha. In Vegas 2 I get murked pretty much right away... Such a NOOB.

FPS games are horrible on PS3. Just can't get same control as a PC mouse.
If you want a good experience, get Batman: Arkham Asylum or Uncharted 1 or 2. Dead Space is awesome also.

I tried Modern Warfare 2 out the other day, but found it had two big negatives:
- No local multiplayer campaigns
- You cannot play online with two local players

A PC mouse isn't any better than a console controller ... I was a PC gamer for years and dismissed the console games.... but in fact, the console gives you much more immediate control. More at your fingers, and can you walk at any varied speed on the keyboard? No.
So I disagree Console shooters are also designed for the pad. So they feel perfectly good. Especially Modern Warfare. I have a Wii, Xbox360 and a PS3.... and the PS3 is by FAR my favorite console of the three ... with the Wii coming in second!

I've been an FPS PC gamer for a long time, and any that I've played on the PS3 have been agonizing. I've given it more than enough time and actually played quite a few, because maybe they weren't available on the PC.
There is a huge difference in aiming ability. The travel distance of the analog stick requires the thumb to be able to teeter on top of the stick in ways that just can't match an arm controlling a mouse.
That said, third person games are the best on console, and I wouldn't want to play it any other way.Comment

Ah but as I said ... console games are balanced differently .... I was the same as you once I now enjoy games on all systems as I have a PC, a PS3, an Xbox360 and a Wii
And I have played many an FPS on all three consoles

If you have a PS3 then you need to be picking up your car keys now (NOW I SAID!) and get straight down to the local store and buy DJ Hero complete with the turntable. It's absolutely awesome and incredibly addictive. The tutorials are very simple to follow and in no time you will be DJing like a pro. Highly recommended!

GTA 4 was pretty good on PS3 and should be cheap now. MW2 is cool but hard in multi player, common to lose like a noob in the first few days.

I have Rainbow6 too - am learning my lesson that strategy type FPS games are ok on a PS3, but the hardcore ones are best left to the PC.
It's fantastic on Unchartered 2.

They only made the first and second gen PS3's backwards compatible - up to the 80gig if I remember correctly.
I have heard they are working on a software solution to make the ps3 compatible, but knowing sony, its gonna be $60
