Have you ever "outgrown" the people around you?

As in you feel like you want more from life and they are ok with the same routine.

what did you do about it? pack up and move?

Sly 01-01-2010 07:56 PM

Sure. I don't really socialize or get along well with people that have the "work/life sucks" mentality. It's a negative attitude and will only breed complacency, which is exactly what I don't want.

Life goes on. Make friends that inspire and encourage you. Not ones that hold you back.

About a year ago I was feeling stagnant, put my stuff in storage, loaded up the dog and went for a 3 month drive. Big cities, small towns, ended up finding an area that I liked 800 miles away. Best thing I ever did.

The few good friends I had are still good friends. The rest who cares.

I have a couple of family members like that. The thing that really pisses me off is that they are always asking me for money so I made the decision to distance myself from them a couple of years ago. We used to all hang out all the time until I made the mistake of telling them about my income. And it's a shame because it has negatively affected out relationships. So yeah, I surround myself with people that are financially set and that are always looking for new and positive ways to better themselves.

I felt like that after I returned from college and had lived away from home most of that time. Some people would tell me how much I had changed, while they were basically the same they were in high school. Same gossiping and shit.

For me, I simply cut them off and said I did not want to be friends anymore. I had dumped 2-3 good friends (before I left) that simply were no longer healthy for me. They were happy with the same ole, and my outlook on life had expanded.

not to sure if it is just me but i always want more. i want to learn more do more. i am never happy in a routine and i am finding people around me seem to be ok with it. which is totally fine but it is just not me.

i just dont understand how people can have their life on repeat. i dont even think they are really happy. it is like they have just settled for less.

I hate when you get to that crossroads point and you almost feel bad for doing it but in the end you have to do what is best for yourself.

exactly i am always tired of the same old. i am an adventurer. it is mind boggling to me how people settle into the same old same old. there is an entire world out there and people would rather do the same shit everyday day in and out with no risks. it boggles my mind.

When I went into the Navy, after 3 years in I went and visited some old friends. I had been on the other side of the world, traveled 1000 ft deep in the ocean, working on a submarine, one friend was working at home depot and another was a manager of a movie theatre, it was time to move on!

kmanrox 01-01-2010 10:48 PM

it happens to everyone i think at some point... especially when you're more ambitious than those around you.. some ppl are entrepreneurs, some people are happier with a paycheck.. totally different kind of people..
