Mainstream offers coming down like crazy, got word of a word sort of thing from buddy who owns a small network. Mastercard laid the slap down today on offers autorebilling after trial, visa expected to follow suit tomorrow.

Non-recurring memberships convert twice as good, that would make up for the rebills anyway.

I put both non-recurring and recurring on my join pages so I dont really care if they take it away.

This would really fuck people over who have auto bill pay for cable, phone, gas ect.

The mainstream "continuity" (acai, etc) businesses are the ones who have to worry. There was some really corrupt "cross selling & rebill" stuff that was occurring and the credit card companies finally decided to put their foot down on it. From what I can tell, this will only affect companies seriously abusing the recurring billing model & cross sales.

Visa, MC, BBB and FTC are teaming together to stop the abuse but I don't think any official rules and regs have been issued. It sounds like it is merchant specific though, but I haven't seen any hard facts. So yes, it is all speculation at this point.
