gfy would this be ok?
I have done 2 small jobs for people here and the first guy just paid me 2 weeks late and the other one is slow paying me with little weekly payments.
All this and everyone I talk to on icq says the designers and programmers are the flakes, so I was thinking of starting a thread to track my services AND my clients. I never take on a job without upfront payment but that doesn't seem to be how it works in the adult world so I have taken a couple chances and it sucked. The thread could work both ways. I can bitch if someone screws me and you guys could review my services if you hire me. It will also be my insurance policy against some deadbeats. I still think I need to charge maybe $20 to hold the spot in my work flow just to prove people have paypal or some means to pay, and then have benchmarks to hit with payouts. And I know I will still probably have someone who gets by me with some spare nick or something but that's the price of doing business. The Problem would be the thread would get bumped all the time. Is this going to piss everyone off or get me banned? |
I need some work done but won't prepay you a cent, let me know.

Always take at least 50% up front from muh fuckas you don't personally know... Online niggaz is shady!

1. post in the thread. 2. make a small deposit of $20 to confirm your payment method 3. agree to future payment schedule upon work delivery then I could begin work. Do you think people will not even be willing to pay the 20? The guy that I mentioned earlier had this story about his paypal being closed so I just like to know people at least have the means to pay. |
no money = no work

it does work both ways, I have gotten burned by a designer also for $75, he gave me a deal and kept changing the deal, I paid in full, he then gave me an unfinished job...and then asked for like $75 more to complete the job. Since it was adult and paypal I rather not loose my account for some BS.
Now I will only go with someone who is reffered to me. Good luck and you should post some links to your work. |
Escrow is good, but for pure coding/projects have a look at rentacoder.com. They have a framework for the purchaser to full out when ordering and then a followup framework for the programmer. Theyalso hold the funds in their own escrow service during the entire project, 100% of agreed sum escrowed before job starts and then the purchaser can release percentages of that sum upon reaching agreed milestones. And should you not come to an agreement, the site has mediators who can be called in. Dealing with people unkown to me, well, that's one way to go. I wouldn't want GFY's first page to be full of people tracking their projects, and I sure as hell wouldn't want my own projects being tracked that way. What I order and from whom, is my private business.

i never pay up front anymore because of bad experience
