    you're retarded

    and since millions take them (including almost anyone in the world who lifts regularly/seriously) - you might want to consider that your impotent and own it rather than blaming something which is totally benign

            retarded because you made a very silly assumption based on nothing and proclaimed it as being fact.

            there are no side effects of normal supplementation of aminos. its what your body, in large part is made of ... and you've failed to explain how it can be connected to your dick not working, which can have many causes, both real and imagined.

            you could only say something this dumb if you're insane, impossibly stupid or a combination with one or both with a complete and total lack of awareness of how many people take aminos and don't experience the same alleged side effect.

                WTF, hahaha this the dumbest statement I've ever heard in my life. You're just gay and can't get it up unless there is cock and balls in front of your face. I take aminos all day.

                  If anything that would give you a harder erection. It increases blood flow.

                          no.. you are telling people who you "believe" its doing. but you have no proof of any connection. all you know is you took a common supplement and that many hours later your dick didn't work. thats hardly any proof of anything... but let me help you with some more practical information as to why your cock doesn't work

                          ----------------

                          let me help you:

                          Causes of Impotence

                          There are many underlying physical and psychological causes of erectile dysfunction. Reduced blood flow to the penis and nerve damage are the most common physical causes. Underlying conditions associated with erectile dysfunction include the following:

                          * Vascular disease
                          * Diabetes
                          * Drugs
                          * Hormone imbalances
                          * Neurologic conditions
                          * Pelvic trauma, surgery, radiation therapy
                          * Peyronie's disease
                          * Venous leak
                          * Psychological conditions

                          Vascular Disease
                          Arteriosclerosis, the hardening and narrowing of the arteries, causes a reduction in blood flow throughout the body and can lead to impotence. It is associated with age and accounts for 50% to 60% of impotence in men over 60.

                          Risk factors for arteriosclerosis include:

                          * Diabetes mellitus
                          * High blood pressure
                          * High cholesterol

                          Smoking, which can lead to any of the above risk factors, is perhaps the most significant risk factor for impotence related to arteriosclerosis.

                          Diabetes Mellitus
                          Chronic high levels of blood sugar associated with diabetes mellitus often damage small blood vessels and nerves throughout the body, which can impair nerve impulses and blood flow necessary for erection. About 60% of men with diabetes experience impotence.

                          Drugs
                          Over 200 commonly prescribed drugs are known to cause or contribute to impotence, including drugs for high blood pressure, heart medications, antidepressants, tranquilizers, and sedatives. A number of over-the-counter medications also can lead to impotence. Long-term use of alcohol and illicit drugs may affect the vascular and nervous systems and are associated with erectile dysfunction.

                          Hormone Imbalances
                          Hormone disorders account for fewer than 5% of cases of impotence. Testosterone deficiency, which occurs rarely, can result in a loss of libido (sexual desire) and loss of erection. Among other conditions, an excess of the hormone prolactin, caused by pituitary gland tumor, reduces levels of testosterone. Hormone imbalances can also result from kidney or liver disease.

                          Neurologic Conditions
                          Spinal cord and brain injuries (e.g., paraplegia, stroke) can cause impotence when they interrupt the transfer of nerve impulses from the brain to the penis. Other nerve disorders, such as multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease, may also result in impotence.

                          Pelvic Trauma, Surgery, Radiation Therapy
                          Trauma to the pelvic region or spinal cord can damage veins and nerves needed for erection. Surgery of the colon, prostate, bladder, or rectum may damage the nerves and blood vessels involved in erection. Prostate and bladder cancer surgery often require removing tissue and nerves surrounding a tumor, which increases the risk for impotence.

                          New nerve-sparing techniques aimed at lowering the incidence of impotence to 40% to 60% are now being developed and used in these surgeries. Temporary impotence is also associated with these procedures, even those in which nerve-sparing techniques were used. It can take as long as 6 to 18 months for full erections to return.

                          Radical cystectomy (for bladder cancer) and prostatectomy (for prostate cancer) require cutting or removing nerves that control penile blood flow. These nerves do not control sensation in the penis and are not responsible for orgasms; only erection is affected by these procedures.

                          Advertising Disclaimer

                          Radiation therapy for prostate or bladder cancer also can permanently damage these nerves.

                          Peyronie's Disease
                          Peyronie's disease is a rare inflammatory condition that causes scarring of erectile tissue. Scarring produces curvature of the penis that can interfere with sexual function and cause painful erections.

                          Venous Leak
                          If the veins in the penis cannot prevent blood from leaving the penis during erection, erection cannot be maintained. Venous leak can be a result of injury, disease, or damage to the veins in the penis.

                          Psychological Conditions
                          Depression, guilt, worry, stress, and anxiety all contribute to loss of libido and erectile dysfunction. If a man experiences loss of erection, he may worry that it will happen again. This can produce anxiety associated with performance and may lead to chronic problems during sex. If the cycle is inescapable, it can result in impotence. Psychological factors in impotence are often secondary to physical causes, and they magnify their significance.

                            While there's a 99.99% chance that his impotence is not related to the amino acids in any way whatsoever, mechanisms that lead from supplement intake to impotence are conceivable.

                            You're absolutely right about the natural presence of essential amino acids in the human body (without them, you die or become severely ill), but raised levels of amino acids can lead to numerous complications.

                            Of course, the usual reason for raised levels of amino acids isn't taking supplements, but disease. For example, PKU (phenylketonuria) is a genetic disorder that consists of the inability or limited ability to produce a certain enzyme (phenylalanine hydroxylase) needed for the metabolization of an amino acid (phenylalanine). This causes excessive levels of that amino acid in the blood, which leads to certain transporters in the body being saturated, eventually resulting in brain damage and retardation.

                            PKU patients are treated mainly by strictly monitoring their diet - avoiding proteins entirely while taking supplements containing the amino acids their body isn't able to make.

                            While it's quite unlikely that consuming supplements would have an effect like this, it's not entirely unthinkable that the combination of excessive supplement consumption in combination with (genetically caused) limited metabolization capacity could have adverse effects. It is, in theory, possible that he has a genetic defect which limits his metabolization capacity to a point where a normal diet doesn't pose a problem, but excessive levels of certain nutrients do pose a problem.

                            But in fairness, chances of something like that being the case here are just about zero.

                                its conceivable that excess water consumption or any one of 1,000,000,000 totally unlikely causes might be a factor. that doesn't change the fact that the general observation and subsequent conclusion is totally unfounded. one could argue that he also took a breath or thought about chipmonks for a fleeting moment and his dick didn't work and assert a connection... and rush to warn the world about chipmonk thoughts

                                anyway.. i thought it was funny how irrational a person can be. probably a traumatic thing if he's young and he was eager to grasp at any potential cause, proclaim it to be fact and affirm it by announcing it to the world.

                                    When you get up tomorrow, keep an eye on whether you have morning wood or not.

                                    If you do, chances are that the cause of your current lack of wood is psychological or temporary.

                                    If you don't, and find yourself waking up without morning wood more often, there might be an underlying physiological issue. Even then, however, the cause is more likely to be a cardiovascular one.

                                    If you smoke, are overweight or don't get much exercise, this might be a good early warning to change your lifestyle a bit.

                                        anyway.. i thought it was funny how irrational a person can be. probably a traumatic thing if he's young and he was eager to grasp at any potential cause, proclaim it to be fact and affirm it by announcing it to the world.
                                        Humans are generally inclined to rely on inductive reasoning, turning single observations into entire "theories". So it's not that odd for him to think this way - most people use a similar kind of flawed reasoning, just look at all the reactions to dystonia girl.

                                        And this particular thought isn't really all that odd, since there actually are lots and lots of substances that can cause impotence. Amino acid supplements, however, aren't likely to belong among them.

                                            I've been taking L-Tyrosine for about two weeks, and I guess this stuff is cumulative because it really wasn't doing shit until the other day...I popped two and was WIRED, I mean more-so than a fucking adderall...felt like my brain was going to blast off out of my skull, not a good feeling

                                              Again, very unlikely to be related to your supplement intake.

                                              Like most other amino acids, tyrosine is used rather quickly by your body. While it's utilized for the production of a bunch of neurotransmitters and hormones, higher levels of tyrosine do not directly correlate to higher levels of those neurotransmitters and hormones.

                                              Taking it as a supplement won't cause it to accumulate in your body - unless you don't metabolize it well or take too much over longer periods of time, in which case effects will be negative. As a supplement, the primary value is to compensate for deficiencies, caused by dietary issues, a genetic inability to metabolize phenylalanine (like with PKU patients), or (possibly) unusually high demands of your body due to stress (sports, detox, etc).

                                              Always keep in mind that 99% of supplements are utterly useless for anyone who is healthy, has a balanced diet and doesn't engage in extremely strenuous exercise (e.g. bodybuilding).

                                                    cartinine isn't an amino acid

                                                    You've got to be really careful not to OD on all this shit - essential amino acids are, well essential, but in excess are toxic as fuck. It's not cos the body uses it that you can pump shitloads into the body.
