Gigabytes converted to mbps ???
Hi, my site goes through around 200 gig per day average, what does that convert to in MBPS, anyone know??
|
Mbps is a capacity.
Gigabytes is a transfer amount. They do not convert exactly. You will only get a best approximation of the RANGE in Mbps (capacity) that you need. 200GB * 31 = 6200GB per month = 30Mbps to 42Mbps 95th percentile bandwidth usage. The amount of GB's you can get out of 1Mbps varies wildly depending on that specific servers traffic patterns. The more peaks and valleys in traffic you have, the LESS GB's per 1Mbps you will get. The flatter your traffic, the more GB's per 1Mbps you will get. |
1 mbps is roughly 300 or so gigs if i aint mistaken.....

Just googled it and in real world usage 1mbps is roughly 200 gig per month, so i'm using 200 per day which is 6000 per month which is roughly 30 mbps, I think that sound right... |

1 (megabits / second) = 321.013651 gigabytes / month |
that 321 gigs is just a estimate , hosting gurus can help you better based on what you are serving up and if there are spikes and so on...
but the 321 is a estimate |
but like Tidalwave posted one is capacity and one is transfer
|
1,000 mb = 1 gig
|
you need a server with 40 megs included.
