Tomorrow morning I'm gonna try oatmeal for the 1st time
Yep never tried it once in my life.
Bought the regular oatmeal, not the flavored stuff and hope it'll substitute the corn flakes I'm having now. I'm gonna try to cook it with milk. Milk or water, opinion seems divided on the subject. I'm also hoping it'll make me more regular. :helpme Who else has oatmeal for breakfast here? |
I got your oatmeal .......
. |
that's it, live on the edge!
go with milk :thumbsup |
mix 1 plain one and 1 brown sugar maple one (so u don't have to add sugar)
add hot water and some serious brazilian jiu jitsu training, and you'll be in shape in no time :) |
Apples and Cinnamon flavor about 3times a week....:pimp
|
I always have the instant packets handy too, although they have too much sugar really.. it's just too damn convenient.
|
It's good for you. Reduces colon cancer. Helps mop up cholesterol.

Hard to go wrong with oatmeal and great on a winter morning. The flavored ones are great, but you can sweeten up plain oatmeal with butter and a little sugar if its too bland for you, go easy on the milk/water until you get the consistency you like, runny oatmeal won't win you over.
Oatmeal cookies are really good and you can also use the plain oats as filler in meatloaf |
you and theking should start a group blog.
|
Just had a bowl with some brown sugar for lunch... good stuff.
|
Don't overdue it. You may hurt yourself.
Wear safety goggles. |
I like regular old fashioned oatmeal but I have never used milk to cook it in, only water.
What I do is bring the water to a rapid boil before I put the oats in and then cook for a very short time, less then a minute. Most people cook it too long I think and then it gets slimy. I put applesauce or apple juice on it instead of milk and that way I don't even need to put sugar on it. There you go, everything that I know about oatmeal. |
shit is nasty

I prefer cheerios (REGULAR ONLY) with milk for breakfast.
|
i have seen it in brainiacs
|
I do it a few times a week. Of course you cook it in watr.
Add butter, brown sugar (not too much) and a pinch or two of salt for flavor. |
cook it with milk (water makes it disgusting).
I put in one tablespoon of brown sugar and that is more than enough. It's amazing and sooo good for you! :) |
I like the Kashi brown sugar oatmeal :thumbsup
|
If you are really feeling adventurous, you could maybe try a banana for lunch.
|
I love the fact that your actually planning it out for tomorrow that's awesome. That being said dude you gotta get the Quaker oats apple cinnamon and use milk! and then add some raisins and you ll eat that shit for the rest of your life!
Peace |
Did you make it out alive?

I had it just a while ago, 1/2 cup of rolled oats and 1 cup of milk cooked on the stove.
I didn't add any sweetener or anything, just the oats and milk. I wanted to get a 'base feel' first.. I think the consistency was just about right and the taste wasn't too bad, but I'm gonna add some flavor next time for sure! I had read several times how filling oatmeal is and holy crap is it ever filling, I had to force myself to eat the last spoonfuls and now I feel like I have a brick in my stomach. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea having that scrambled egg and slice of whole grain bread with peanut butter before the oatmeal lol Thanks for the feedback and tips everyone, I'm gonna try some of the ideas posted here to spice things up. I see many morning of experimenting fun in my future. :) |
Always with milk and always with salt, NOT water and sugar :thumbsup
|
Used to love oats with hot milk and syrup. Used to have it when I was a kid but very seldom eat it now
|
My preferred way of eating it (I have it for breakfast about 3 days a week this way)
cook the oats. I cook them with water, but you can probably use milk too. When the oats are just about done toss in a handful of raisins. You don't need to cook the raisins, you just want them to get warm and soft. When it is done pour it into a bowl and add cinnamon and some vanilla soymilk (I don't drink regular milk). Very yummy. |
I have with with just water and some cinnamon. Occasionally throw in a banana.
